2003 Sierra Add Bluetooth

After reading several topics here on adding bluetooth by replacing the vcim I was wondering if that vcim would fit in my 2003 sierra 2500 or will I need to go witha different option?

The VCIM's used in GMT 900 trucks (2007+) are not compatible with the GMT 800 (2006 and older). The GM-LAN is completely different.

This is correct.

 

HOWEVER, I have heard that some folks have been successful at adding bluetooth to GMT800 trucks using the VCIMs for 2009 GMT360 SUVs, which did use the same module network (Class-II Databus). I have no firsthand experience with doing this in a GMT800, but I can tell you that the bluetooth functions exactly the same in a 2009 GMT360 as it does in the GMT900 trucks.

 

I posted some information about the hardware present in the 2009 GMT360 in another thread somewhere, but if there is anything further I can do to feed you with information to maybe help you on your way, just let me know. I can always refer to the truck in my driveway for reference.
