Cold Air Intake

I have the 19212450 cold air intake on my 09 Sierra and given that it is has now been discontinued I wanted to know what part number the replacement filter is? I asked GM parts direct and they say the 2008 model filter does not fit the 2009. Anyone looked into this yet or have the part number for the replacement filter?

If you can figure out the measurements of the filter then K&N sells every size and shape filter known to man! Seriously, when I replaced the no name filter on my cold air intake (on my 02 Sierra) I just measured the filter and ordered a K&N replacement. The best part was that it was reusable.

I only paid $50 shipped, HTH.

Why are you replacing it? Can't you just wash/re-oil the OEM CAI ones?

Otherwise I'd just grab a K&N one. They sell cones to hose clamp right onto the CAI.

The GM CAI filter does not use oil like some of the other brands. I have an '07 GM CAI and I have not had issues finding replacement filters. They stock them at my local dealership. Good luck finding the correct filter.

I didn't think GM made CAI for the 09's since the MAF was moved.

Ahhh... sorry, Just assumed CAI=oiled filter (all the non OEM are). My bad.

I'd just measure and buy a K&N then as previously suggested.

Amsoil and AFE are other options for cleanable/reusable filters.

I'm running an Amsoil eaau 4090 on my 08 GM CAI wich

has 4" inlet and 9" long fits perfectly.

In my personal experience with K&N products, they are great when maintained correctly. One time I was in a bit of a rush and cleaned my filter up and when I oiled up the air filter, I put on too much oil and it effed up my MAF. At the time, I didn't think I used too much oil. I had to have used too much though as I had cleaned it three other times (about 40k miles on the K&N filter) and had no issues. Ever since then, I find it easier to just buy a new filter and through the old one away. Just my preference...I did like the sound of the K&N over the GMPP CAI. The intake sound was much better on the K&N.

Going to have to try one of those Amsoil filters...I didn't know they ran dry and could be cleaned as well. That's the best of both worlds. Thanks for posting that...

This is precisely why you buy two filters, so you always have a clean dry filter anytime you need it. Plus it almost a must should anything happen to the filter on your truck, if you don't have a spare your screwed.
