I am a little new to the truck scene, just purchased a 06 Silverado Crew and a lot of people talk about de-badging and just wondering why you do this or you would want to do this?

Thanks in advance!

It's a matter of personal preference. Some people like the contrast of the "chrome" badging and it helps break up an otherwise "plain" body panel. While others prefer the clean look of a body panel with no badging on it at all. Some vehicles have so many different badges on it, it looks like the beginnings of a "ricer" vehicle with all the different decals on it.

The tailgate of my Sierra is about to get cleaned up. Right now, it has all of the badging on it that was on it when I drove it off the lot, and I think it is too much. It has the Sierra, SLE, GMC, Flex Fuel, and the dealer badges on it. I am removing the FF and dealer badges for certain, and debating on the others.

^^I've heard about this, and its 100% true. Removing pinstriping adds another .000012.

I just think a truck looks cleaner without all the bs slapped all over it.

I don't mind the "badges" and I too never understood why some one would de-badge. But hey it's your truck, you paid for it :jester:

The only badge I don't really like on my new sierra is the flexfuel one, and I think I may get rid of it in the future.

Factory badging is ugly so we remove it to make the vehicle look slicker and better overall...

for me, waxing around things is so much easier when they're not there. you don't have to worry about the wax or dirt residue getting in behind a molding or badge. drying off a body panel is also easier when there's one less thing to go around, plus water usually seeps out from under them after you've already dried a panel.

most of all, I fall into the group of "it just looks clean"

personal preference. although the weight reduction has shown a 0.0025 improvement in MPG.

You forgot to mention less wind drag on the sharp edges of the letters while cruising thru town.

its personal preferance....removing them dosen't do dick for mpg or anything, be warned though if you are buying an older truck and debadge now, you could have off colored spots from paint fade

As previously said, it is a matter of personal preference. I, however, have been a diehard GM supporter for most of my driving "career" (about 35 years now!! :jester: ). I like showing off the emblems.

Now, this gas savings thing has been reconsidering my stance.... :troll:

dude, the amount of gains would soooo make up for the lift and tires. i would seriously consider it if i were you.

I think putting the air damn back on would do more real world gas savings then taking off a few onces of plastic emblems.

GM is not paying me to advertise their products for them, that's why I de-badge

Whay wouldn't you be proud to show that you own a Chevy?

the only badge im thinking about getting off is the big bow-tie on the rear tailgate...They went a little overboard on size.......Think its coming off...you think I'll have paint fade issue on my 07???
