Matt_ Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Im thinking of getting the 305/50/20 General Grabber AT2s for my next tires for a few reasons....lighter, slightly shorter, and most importantly.... cheaper (could apply the cost savings to a specific wheel ive always wanted). just a little iffy on how a 32x12 will look... although a bit of tire clearance looks great with the proper setup!
Matt_ Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 know any specs on that truck? 2" leveling kit?
JRLZ71 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Don't know if you have seen this thread or not http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...=110818&hl=

Matt_ Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Thought you said never go with 50 or lower? they're a stock height tire... so for someone that wants bigger (taller) tires than stock, they're not a good option and you're better off with 305/55 or 275/60 depending on the lift/wheel setup. im trying to get back to a lighter weight/ stockish diameter tire... but keeping the 305 width. I could still do the 275/60/20s... but i think they'll look too skinny for the wheel/setup i want. and sticking with a 305/55/20 bumps the cost up to the point where im not going to consider trying to get the wheels i like. Thus, going with the 305/50 will save me $400-$600 over the 305/55s.... applying that towards the wheels makes it feasible in my mind and thus a worthwhile tradeoff.
Matt_ Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 i should also mention that the wheels i like are outside my comfort range in terms of backspace... they're 9" wide with 5.0 instead of 5.7". So the 305/50s would not require anymore trimming or lift... although i may still throw on a 1-1.5" level so ill have the clearance for some front mud flaps to help protect the rockers; they already get beat up... If i dont see what i like in the pics then im just keeping what i have and will replace my current tires with 305/55s when they're worn.

I've thought about the 305/50 or the 305/55. If I got the 305/55. I would most likely have to get a BL. Really can't afford the BL right now. If I got the 305/50, I know thats like almost 2 inches wider, would that rub a lot or any at all?

If I got the 305/50, I know thats like almost 2 inches wider, would that rub a lot or any at all? That's a loaded question there... 305/50s can be run on STOCK truck with the right wheel width and offset. You may want to look at it like I am, solely from a cost point of view. The 305/50s will be $400-$600 cheaper (depending on the wheels that you choose)... so you can get the 305/50s AND a body lift for the same price as just getting the 305/55s. However, you could also get the 275/60/20s with the same cost savings and do the BL as well... all for the same cost as the 305/55s and this way you get a 33" tall tire.
Matt_ Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Just for reference... here's what my truck looked like with 275/55/20s on stock width/offset wheels with the 3" body lift: I'm expecting the 305/50s to look too small... but figured id throw this thread up there just to solidify that thought.
STINSAN3 Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Well I did get my XD Spys 20x8.5 +18 offset & BS 5.46. I'm just waiting impatiently to get some tires, my mind is strongly set on the Cooper Zeon LTZ's. So would the wheels specs, I mentioned above, work for the 305/50? Its this or the 275/60/20. The 305/50's are like only $10 more.

I know two people that have NBS trucks & are running 305/50 & they suggested me to do the 305's. Why does it have to be this hard to make a decision! ahhh
