Just got Recall work done.

Open recall 02029 Air Bag Sensing Diagnostic Module.

 

Not sure what they did, maybee made an adjustment to the computer.

 

They certainly did it fast.

when did you get the recall notice?  What yr is your truck (when was it built?)

 

Only recall i got was for a brake cable.  They cable tied it to the frame cause my nerf bars were in the way

I got that in the mail as well, but I believe I tossed it since I don't have the truck anymore.

 

But, it said that it's jus a quick computer fix for it.

Truck is 2000.

I called the dealer on tuesday to see if it was for my truck, they said it was, so I set up an appointment for this morning.

 

I received the noticed in the mail yesterday.

(SafetyAlerts) - General Motors Corporation Has Recalled the 2000 Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, GMC Sierra because of airbag problems.

 

Number Involved: 525,254

 

Dates of Manufacture: February 1999 – February 2000

 

Defect: Some pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles have an air bag sensing diagnostic module (SDM) that contains an anomaly that could result in the driver and passenger’s air bag failing to deploy during certain frontal crashes. In a vehicle crash, front seat occupants may receive more severe injuries.

 

Remedy: Dealers will recalibrate the SDM in the affected vehicles. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification is expected to begin during late August 2002. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC at 1-800-462-8782. [NHTSA Recall No. 02V178/GM Recall No. 02029].

Gotta love how they list a phone number on the recall if you don't receive notice of it...Hmm, maybe just me, but if it weren't for this forum, how would you get the notice to get the phone number to call because it wasn't mailed to you if you didn't get it mailed to you?  Things that make you go "hmm"

I just got my recall notice in the mail yesterday.  I'm going to call the dealer today and see when I can get it in to get it taken care of.  Apparently GM sent the letter to my old address so it had to be forwarded and took a couple extra days to get here.
