Change Headlights On A 2006 Gmc Sierra Ext. Cab

hey guys.......just got a 2006 not to long ago and the headlights on it suck......was just looking for some advice on how to swap out the bulbs.....i looked under the hood and it seemed pretty tight in there thanks for the help

open hood, locate the top of the lens assembly. on top there are 2 rods. 1 outboard 1 inboard. rotate them out of their stowed position and pull up. it can be done one at a time or both simultaniously. then pull the lens assembly out towards the front of the truck. then you can freely and comfortably remove the bulbs.

headlight is a 9006

high beam is a 9005

I believe '06 is slightly different from previous years. Post #4 picture should be an '06

Both are shown in that thread. The style changed on both GMC and Chevy at one point. That's why I referenced it, plus the helpful pics.

i believe the 03 body started the change

The change I was talking about was the difference from the "old style" to the "new style" configuration of headlamp case locking pins. Vertical vs. horizontal as in M. Cueva's application. I think '05 was the transition year, for sure '06

i havent seen a sierra with horizontal locking pins. but i didnt pop the hood on my friends 06. if anyone with an 05 or 06 sierra can post here with a pic of their headlights, it would be appreciated
