The Best Brake Pads?

Recommended Posts

I was searching around here, but had no luck. Im getting a set of EBC Dimpled and Slotted Rotors for the front of my truck, and I was wondering what pad would be the best pad for towing a trailer. I want something thats going to give me the least amount of brake fade possible. Im looking at Wagner Pads right now, but Im not sure what type of pad material to go with. Any ideas?

I don't have any personal experience with them, but it seems like a lot of people have used Hawk pads and been happy. I was going to seriously consider them when it's time to replace. It's been a while since I looked at them, but I remember they had different kinds of pads for different purposes.

Can't remember the name but there are several on here that have used the top of the line Car Quest brand and had great luck with them. I'm still good and will not need pads for a while. It amazes me that at 99k my pads are still in great shape.

Yea I have heard some good things about the Hawk pads. Ive used ACDelco before on my other truck, but I traded it before I could notice if they were any good.

Car Quest Gold GCD. They are made by Akebono. I put Akebono on two work trucks that pull trailers. They both have upwards of 50 -60k miles on them and still going strong.

Oh, and zero noise

Hmmm. I don't have a carquest store around where I live, but they might ship them to me from online.

Car quest also has a Blue line of pads, made by Raybestos. They are supposed to be very good too. Just not quite as good as their Gold. The Blue might have some noise

Hawks aren't too bad with brake dust either. No fade noticed at all.

Yea after reading whats posted here and some reviews from other places I decided to order Hawk Super Duty Pads and EBC Sport Cross Drilled/Dimpled Rotors from Autoanything.com. They were a pretty penny, but Im tired of mine shaking even after the dealer turned the rotors and replaced the pads. I still don't know when Ill put them on. Im considering running the OEM ones into the ground first, but I probably wont. I'll post up how they work when I get them on. Thanks for the help guys!

I am gettting ready to try out the lifetime DuraLast Pads.....still running stockers @ 76,000

Have you ever gone faster than 30 mph? I always have to replace my brakes by about 40-45,000 miles.

Yes, but I don't drive 0-100-0 mph like half of these crazed idiots. I also do very little stop and go driving. I live in a town of 370 people, and I commute a 60 mile round trip 5 days a week. All of those miles being 2 lane hwy. I also let off the accelerator about 1/4 mile before I have to stop. So really I am only stopping at 30/40 - 0 mph pace instead of 65-0 mph. This also improves gas mileage. I also don't change them every year for sh!tz and gr!ns....
