Hissing

Next week I am bringing my truck in to have a few tsb's performed but I have one issue I can not figure out

 

After searching I have found only 2 users with similar experiences

 

I am getting this soft hissing sound coming from the area of my drivers dash by my left knee....on and off gas I hear it. It is almost like a vacuum sound

 

 

Anyone else notice this?

I hear this in my 2500HD. If I sit in the driveway idling and lightly increase rpm and then take my foot of the pedal I can hear a whsssssssssssst noise. Mine seems to originating from the steering column, but that is pretty close to where you are describing it. I've never thought to be enough of an issue to bring it in, from what I can tell everything is tight and there are no vacuum leaks (my truck doesn't have vaccuum assisted brakes like the 1/2 tons).

Haven't heard that noise but only have about 1500 miles so far. What TSB's are out for your 2010? Wondering if they apply to mine, but everything has been great so far.

I notice it with the heating/air off and the radio off as well

 

Its going in for

Tsb for crew cab rear road noise

Tsb for body mount insulator install (popping/clunk low speed turns)

Could be a dirty injector but if it was it would have some kind power loss and or a hesitation.Check the brake booster.Or hydra booster whatever.Is there any kind of surge in idle or any kind of bog under load

Isnt the brake master cylinder in that spot just on the other side of the firewall?

no its not from the speedo

 

it is near my left shin area and it comes and goes as i am on and off the gas

Having the same issue that seemed to just crop up after about 20K. I have a 09 Crew 4.8 with 4 speed Auto. Sometimes the noise starts as soon as I start the truck, while other times not. Sometimes the noise goes away when additional pressure is applied to gas pedal, but sometimes not.

I have heard the same sound and I have a 2010 1500 with about 29,000 miles on it. I just didn't think anything of it and I only hear it sometimes even then it is faint so... what to do. Guess I better ask about it before the 36,000 mark.

Ditto on a 2011 1500 with 5.3L with 10K on the clock. Really noticeable when towing and the engine is working hard. Truck runs great so I was just curious and thinking about bring up it at the next dealer visit. Would be nice to see what you guys find out.
