Autotrac switch

My Autotrac switch is going bad. The lights on it don't work at times. If you press the button several times the lights will work. It is still working fine, but the service 4wd message comes on about once a week.

Anyone change this switch themselves? Is it just plug and play? What did the part cost?

Thanks for any help.

I'd say the switch is plug and play.  May want to get a second opinion though, cause thats just a guess.  :D

The part number should be 15709327, and PartsZoneOnline shows it as $34.93 (your price).  The list price shows $50.72.

If it were me, I'd give it a try.  :thumb:

MountaineerTom 99Z71,

Does PartsZoneOnline list part #'s also?  I cant seem to see that when I snoop around on thier site at the on-line catalog.  Please inform.  Thanks.

Not that I know of.  I just happen to write that # down one time when I seen it posted.

I have a page with some part numbers I'v written down while messing around on my truck.  On that page, there are some links to some other sites that have recorded part numbers also.

The cluster is the problem.  Had mine rplaced about 3000 miles ago.  4WD light came on once, and never again.  Kinda freaked me out when it came on.

You are on the right track with the switch.  Mine fried completely at 65K, SVC 4WD was on all the time.  I got my switch from GM for like $50...

The main panel that covers the front of the dash has to be pulled off.  It is only held in by clips, no screws (thats why you might occasionally hear it rattle).  You will have to pull the gearshifter down to like first gear to pull the cover off, and if you have tilt wheel pull it down all the way too.

The switch itself is held into the dash by a couple of clips.  I suggest popping one side loose and then wiggling the other free.  Take your time here.

Should take you 15 - 20 minutes.

I bought the switch a few months ago but I haven't installed it yet. I think I'll do it this Saturday.

Anything I need to know?

Nope nothing you need to know just unplug the old one and plug in the new one.  I just did mine last month.   :puke:
