99 Gmc Cold Start Issue

I'm having trouble with my GMC truck. As subject line states cold start issues. It plays out like this, truck was plugged in all night because it is flipping cold here in northern Alberta. I went to start the truck to warm it up and the engine started like normal but stalled right away. 3 more times I started the engine with the same result, starts right up but stalls right away. I then tried applying a little throttle but engine would not start at all, same with full throttle. I put gas line antifreeze in the tank left it about 10 minutes and tried again, this time it started right away and ran well. There were no alerts displayed on the dash flagging anything.

My question is, did the gas line antifreeze fix it or could it be a sign of a week fuel pump or something more sinister? Has anyone out there had this problem before?

Thanks to all who take the time to reply and help a fella out.

Have a good Day!

its fuel related obviousley, i live in a cold climate it was 19 out today when i started my truck(it sat for 2 days without being ran) and it fired right up no issues...keep in mind my truck is outside all day everyday..do you canucks have ethanol in the fuel? i was thinking maybe you had some water or somethen in the tank

-36c with the wind chill this morning when this all happened. No I don't use ethanol enriched fuel.

Yes, I agree that it was fuel related. My first thought was I blew the fuel pump fuse or the pump itself had packed it in. But then I put the gas line antifreeze in and it started and ran well.

Just trying to figure out if some one else has had this issue and it was the fuel pump packing it in or the gas line antifreeze solved the issue.

the gas anti freeze you dumped in is ethanol, i've used ethanol enriched gas since i started driving with no cold start issues

It happened again this morning. This time it started twice and died, then the third time it started and stayed running.

No, I have not change the fuel filter yet.

I bought this truck in June this year so it is the first time I've had to use it in winter conditions. I guess I have no history on the truck.

It is a 1999 with 260000 Km. So it could easily have anything wrong.

Update, I had this happen again this morning. I brought it to a garage and the fella there says it could be the filter, pump or the ignition switch. I have had some problems with the truck starting and having no power to the dash gauges, so is the ignition switch a good possibility? I don't want to have to pay for a pump at $500.00 plus 2hrs of shop time if I don't have to.
