It seems that I am going to have to get rid of my 1991 GMC 2500 light duty truck... Im really sad, but I have not been able to nail down the issue and get it running, and Im out of money and ideas... Anyone looking for a new project and live in or near Minnesota?

Steve,

Have you tried to get some info on the forum? I am sure someone here could help you out with your problems, (that is if you have not already tried.)

There are a lot of brilliant mechanics here.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yes I have tried, and others here have tried to help me, but after the distributor being the latest worn out thing, this truck just isn't worth the money anymore. I dont make enough to fix it, I think im sending it down the road this time.

Dont you think I would be picking up someone elses problem tho? I think the hardest part is I cannot do an engine swap here, I dont own the house.

Here I still am, it still sits cold and dead. Figure this coming spring ill give it one last shot before I kill her (and look for another one) But sadly for now im driving a Ford pickup for the winter

I work at a junk yard and we ger ALOT of 350's in that run like a top. a lot of these truck come after being in a crash or losing a different part of the drive train. and depending on where you are there are a few shops that will let you help or even do the engine swap yourself

Don't give up hope. If you really love that truck you won't let it go so easily. There is always a fix for everything, and now that you have that Ford for a temporary replacement you can save up some extra money and get it fixed. Any decent Mechanic shop should be able to let you help do the swap, or a friend or someone at your work can let you use their garage, or something. Junkyards/Scrapyards are your best bet at finding a decent engine.

+1 for a junk yard i get every thing free from my locate junk yard so its not a loss to me.Sierra is not giving up on you your giving up on the sierra!for a ford! the last ford i drove in i had the front left tire roll across the road going about 45 mph.almost took 3 of our lives.Soon as a got that truck home didnt even bother to fix the lugs.Sold it for 400 bucks then bought my 90 gmc sierra. It was a 87 bronco nickel and dimer.bought it brand new within the first week it needed trans work then 2 months later i was in the junk yard looking for a rear.
