Well, I just bought a '72 candy yellow Honda Trail 70 Automatic, (clutchless 3-speed), and today I found and bought the other '72 model a 4-speed with a hand clutch in candy apple red. So now I have one of each model and each color.

They are both good winter projects, and aren't mint condition, but they are decent riders that I will fix up over the next few years.

The best things about these bikes is that they are appreciating in value, and that every dollar you throw at them, you get a dollar back!!! So it is a win/win situation, and now I have three great bikes in my garage and they are all classics... (The two '72 trail 70's and my (1 of 500 US model) 1993 GTS1000 Yamaha) .

I'm not an expert on these bikes, but I believe my dad has one sitting back in the weeds somewhere. I remember riding on it when I was little. I also remember the exhaust pipe burns on the inside of my lower legs! He used it to chase livestock around the farm quite a bit. Worked great and in places a pickup couldn't go due to rocks and other obstacles.

The last I remember, we tried to pull start it but it wouldn't fire. I'm sure it's locked up. I should get that from him and see what I can do with it. BTW, it's blue. I have no idea what year it is or have any other details though.

A neighbor of my parents also has a 50 and I think he has a 70 too. Both in very good condition and never get rode. Sit in the shop and collect dust.

These bikes are worth some cash!!! Maybe you should get ahold of that bike and fix it up. That blue bike is a 69-71 model with the speedo in the headlight bezel.

Here is a pic of of a similar bike to what I got today.... This is not mine, and it is alot rougher than the one Ibought, but the gy wants a grand for this one.... (dream on)
