Hi all,

My Burb has a little over 73k...I know the plugs are good to 100k, but I am considering changing them early to keep fuel economy as good as possible. Has anyone experimented with different plugs such as the E3. I will probably stick with the Delcos, just wanted to see what everyones opinions are.

Thanks in advance!

Don't mean to thread jack, but how's the "good as possible" mpg in an 8.1L Suburban? How does it do when towing a heavier load (7k+ lbs)?

AC Delco. Who knows your vehicle the best? I also wouldn't wait until the full 100k to change them. 60-70,000 is more than enough, especially if you're dealing with aluminum heads.

I used NGKs with MSD plug wires (the red makes it faster, right?) on my 03 when it had like 60k on it if memory serves. Truck still ran great, fuel mileage was unchanged.

I have read a lot of negative stuff about the E3 plugs on various different car forums so I know that I will not be looking to install any of those in my truck.

I will probably do some NGK's and MSD wires too when I do mine as done above. This is what I have used on all of my LS based engines.

either NGK TR55 or AC Delco

I'd argue Justin and Jenna at BlackBear, and Charlie Wheatley, know our vehicles the best.

Fuel economy and 8.1l don't really go together. I have a travel trailer that weighs in at only 5K. I plan on upgrading the trailer soon, hence the desire for the 2500. With my current trailer I get a whopping 11mpg on the highway....woohoo. I would have loved to have a Suburban with a DMax. Thanks GM. Although DuraBurb makes some nice machines. However, the 10k premium is hard to swallow new let alone a used upgrade.

You are smart for changing out your plugs early. Stick with AC/Delco. The Engine is designed with those type plugs in mind and will run best with those plugs. 99% of mechanics out there will tell you the same thing, stick with the same brand that came from the factory.

I have read more bad, then good about E3's.

Delco's.

As far as a company that does custom engine tuning knowing your vehicle the best, I hope you're not

serious. No offense to Blackbear intended.

NGK or ACdelco,Autolite..For the older trucks like my 1990 i swear by the MSD street fire and/or blaster coils. Also for the older trucks DONT BUY THE E3 OR TT'S THEY FOUL VERY EASILY
