These prices are outrageous!

The other day I was browsing through the dealership inventory (through GM buypower) at Tom Benson Chevrolet in San Antonio, Texas and I was comparing the price of a 2003 Silverado Z-71 LS Extended Cab and compared it to the regular cab and the price was outrageous!

The Extended cab cost was somewhere around $32,528.  Arrival Blue

The regular cab was somewhere around $29,666.  Victory Red

I think with those prices, I would go ahead and by the Extended Cab. :jester:

What would you prefer?  ???

I've always liked the classic looks of the reg cab, but that ext. cab sure is handy!

BTW, the ext cab in arrival blue color is what I just ordered!  Pricing is pretty close too.

Why would you want a regular cab truck?  Unless you use it solely as a work/utility truck or you are planning on making it a performance vehicle (I.E. weight savings), why wouldn't you at least buy ext cab.

And what does LS1.com have to do with anything?

I started out looking for a reg. cab for the maneuverability.  I couldn't find what I wanted though.

No use for an ext. cab.  Had one, handy at times not all that useful though considering everything I need can be carried in the bed.

I'm looking towards getting a regular cab.  Basically, I don't have that much need for the ext. cab to justify the added price, and I like reg. cabs (don't know why, I just do...)

I'm with him, the point of getting a truck is hauling stuff in the bed, if you need a trunk get a car!  Unless you got kids etc, there is no great reason for a extended cab. I can fit PLENTY of stuff behind my seat and I have it ALL the way back!

I'll tell you why, the same reason the look of a 2-dorr coupe is preferred to a 4 door sedan. It's cleaner, less cluttered, and generally better porportioned

Let me guess, sucks.gif, right?

While I understand your needs for a regular cab, comments like "whatever I need to haul around can go in the bed" are silly.  There is stuff I carry that I also don't want other "peering eyes" to have free access too.

I have a set of 17x9 SS wheels in my truck right now, that I wouldn't leave in my bed cause they'd be gone by the time I got home tonight.  INstead, three are in back and one up front.

Admittedly though, I use my extended cab.  I open the rear cab door nearly as much as I open the regular door.  And trust me, I use my bed.  Extended cab just makes your "tool"

all that much more useful.

Have an ext cab myself.  Initially thought about a reg. cab shortbox, but at 6'5 230, I need the space of the ext cab to move around.  It's also nice to be able to take friends out and have secure storage when shopping- I can put things on the back floor due to the tinted glass.  I have a soft tonneau on mine, so storage in the bed is a no no, but I use it primarily for lawn and garden equipment transport anyway.

I wouldn't know what to do without at least the extended cab.  That is where my dogs sit whenever they drive with me, if I didn't have the ext. cab they wouldn't be able to go with me.  And it is nice to put things back there that you don't want others to have access to.  I also throw all sorts of extra clothes back there too.  Next time I will go for a crew cab, then the dogs can have lots of room.

Get a cap then.  I don't believe what I said was "silly" either.  I don't need a place to put groceries in my truck.  Thats what the park avenue is for.  As for tools, thats why most everyone I know has a tool box for the bed.  I don't haul around anyone besides myself and an occasional passenger.  Therefore, looks and lack of necessity beckon that I have only a reg cab.  My last two trucks were ext cab's.  Didn't use the ext cab enough to justfy the extra cost.
