Led Dome Light Conversion Nnbs Silverado

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Haven't been on here in forever but glad to see the forum is going strong!

I am looking into replacing the dome lights / cab lights in my NNBS Silverado w/ LED.

After some research I have found that the replacement bulb is a 42mm Festoon.

I am thinking about getting the 6-led version. (would a 9 fit?)

I was wondering if you guys had any experience with superbrightleds.com. They are a little more pricey and I was wondering if they were brighter than the more inexpensive alternatives (which look the exact same)

Here are the choices that I am considering:

1. LED's through Amazon

2. Choose the 4210-xHP6: 6 High Power LED Festoon Bulb-->

LED's through superbrightleds.com

Would appreciate any advice!

Mike

I did my domes with the superbrightled bulbs. Been dealing with them for years, and had good luck with their service. I think it adds a distinctive look to the truck.

Thanks for feedback-- does anyone have experience with the particular bulb in this next link?

I am quite set on purchasing them, but I am unsure if the 9-led will fit in NNBS dome housing

Is there a big difference in light output from stock with the LEDs other than just color? Are they really brighter? Any issues with the voltage difference? I have a bunch of expensive Surefire flashlights, so I can appreciate the POSSIBLE light output from LED, but I have a hard time believing dome lights can be that much of a difference lol

yes it's a major difference..

I had a valet once tell me it looked like I had a Crystal Chandelier in my truck.. White LEDs are easily 5 times brighter than the dull yellow halogen OEM stuff.

This. I have that bulb in my 1995, it is extremely bright.

Those look like ordinary LEDs, if so, it will not be as bright as the six SMT-LEDs on the Superbrightleds bulb.

I replaced all my interior lights with LEDs, adjustable festoon types I picked up at the local RICER shop. $10 a pair for 3X3 units. They run cooler than the originals, are 3-5 times brighter and still dim properly. They let me take several out into the parking lot to try out. Nothing like parking a big ass crew cab next to all those lowered ricers and thinking, "Gawd, I could just climb over them to park". Did the cargo lights as well. Next its blacked out headlights with my HIDs and LED backup lights.

Darren, go find your local ricer shop, being in BC there must be hundreds of them!

oh man youre in markham, you have it pretty bad, im in niagara falls its bad enough here for ricers but i used to come up your way for some evening vehicle activities in my youth and it felt like i was in a rice bowl at times, lol. did you notice the cargo lamp had a better light output with the leds than the halogens did?
