tires and lift

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I am getting some larger tires for my truck, 255/85/16 (similar to 285/75/16 but they will fit on my stock rim) I am probably going to get Cooper Discovery S/Ts and I have a few questions.

First, has anybody used these tires before and what was your opinion of them?

Because of the tire size I feel I should lift the truck 1-2” because the tires are that much larger than my stock 245/75/16s.  Are the torsion bar keys or heavier duty torsion bars the way to go?  I don’t think I could get that with my current bars without using all the threads.

I want to lift the rear of the truck 1-2” as well (it sits pretty level with the cap) what is the best way to lift the back without sacrificing too much in payload and ride? And will I need longer shocks?

Thanks for the advice
