So, a lady who has been the "global manager of human resources", is now responsible for new product development? I know... "a good manager can manage anything", but I've never believed it (yet to see it either). Imagine what could happen if they put real "enthusiast managers" in there, you know... the kind of guys/gals who try to start their own car company (Tesla Motors).

Yes... this is a pointless post, but the headline caught my eye.

It's been a while since I read one of those. Loved the first quote: In the Dilbert strip of February 5, 1995 Dogbert says that "leadership is nature's way of removing morons from the productive flow". :D

Edit: I wonder if this thread will void my warranty?

I think "manager" is the new buzz word for white shirt. My buddies that transfered to the Car Plant after the Truck Plant closed, seem to use that word alot now. It wasn't used much when I was working.

Ever since the "Vehicle Line Executive" job was created (supposed program leader), I've wondered how familiar the person is w/ the vehicle they're working on.

Example, person that has never driven a truck or only uses 1 sparingly is put in charge of a truck redesign. Look @ the crap the "real" users have to contend w/: Cheesy tailgate cables that break. Towing mirrors that are tipped & look wrong (GMT800s). Why can't they center the GMC emblem in the grille (Terrain, Sonoma). On those vehicles the placement looks f'ed up.
