i see GMTs worked hard daily and ran into the ground with little to no issues, and yet i see so many threads on suspension components needing replacement..i mean is it the leveling kits? what is it? i don't know of any trucks that had issues with the suspension at all...sorry drunken curiosity

i think it all depends on how hard you drive the truck. my suburban with 151k i have only ever replaced a single tie rod. well the front end is a worn out and a little sloppy, but nothing to bad.

 

my 01 silver with 85 has had both tierods replaced and im pretty sure i need a bearing and the balljoints are shot too, but i abuse the shit out of it

Well at my place of work, 1/2tons break leaf springs fast, but hey thats the nature of the beast things wear out when beat on, but then somebody could go 200,000kms on the freeway and never have a problem.

 

 

My truck has 110,000kms and my suspension is awesome still.

Mind you I don't have a leveling kit, and I don't go through deep potholes or shitty dirt roads all the time.

With 140,000 miles on mine, I've only had to replace a front wheel bearing, but I don't drive offroad, at least very fast anyway.

i think the only GMT i've ever seen with suspension issues was a 98 s-10 which i think blew the cv joints or ball joints

CV joints are not a suspension component, it's part of the driveline.

 

my 2003 never had a problem with the front end components. I had 85,000 or so miles on it when I traded her, the last two years I had her I drove a decent amount of dirt roads, I wouldn't have expected to go much more without some parts wearing.

 

I'm not expecting to go that long with my 2009, I'm still driving dirt roads in bad shape and I know it's hell on suspension and steering, but it's part of the game - I have to drive these roads to access my hunting camp.
