Drove A Cummins

And i loved it!

absolutely love diesel, and loved how i was able to burn the tires with boosting from a standstill and without any modifications.

However i know the Duramax/Allison has to be better because dodge sucks  but i have never driven a Duramax before.

Only had the opportunity to test a Cummins, because they were offering them at the auto show.

Think if i goto the local gm dealer, would they allow me to go for a test drive in a sierra HD when i have absolutely no intention of buying one? since i have a 2011 5.3 sierra already on order from the dealer?

Need to set my mind straight! couldn't imagine myself enjoying a product from the competition!!!!

This was a loaded truck to 70kish msrp, ram 2500 Long horn edition. was impressed.

Just tell the dealer you want to make sure you're making the right choice, go for a few miles and come back and say that it is too big and rides too rough and you can now be happy with your decision.

well stretched a little, dad is getting the 2011 whilst i'm getting the 05 silvy

I should tell them to set my mind straight by letting me take out a Duramax.

Talk to the same salesperson....can't see why they wouldn't let you take one for a short spin.

70k msrp?

Indeed, and yeah, I'll get a hold of the same salesmen, bad business I think, to not let a customer try things out for future reference.

i would kill my self before i paid 70k for a dodge truck. IMO

that seems absurd....70k

i would MUCH rather take a Denali 3500

try and get into a LML duramax. apparently they are hot. dad's friend has an LBZ (the last one before particulate filters, 2006 and 2007, 99-06 body style) and he was merging onto the interstate with a seed cart (it was empty, est. 500 lbs tongue weight) he saw a car not moving over, so he gunned it. bad idea, as it broke loose at 50 mph and sent him all over the road. and that one is 360 hp/650 lb/ft the new one is 397 hp/ 735 tq, so needless to say, the duramax allison is a ballsy combination.

If I bought a diesel it would have been the Dodge. JMO.
a buddy of mine's dad has an 06 sierra 2500HD with the 6speed allison. Definitely pretty stout bone stock. Another friend had an 05ish F250 super duty with a banks exhaust and programmer and a K&N intake and the difference between the programs was mind blowing to me. That was my first experience with diesels so I was clueless, but from the factory setting to performance had to have been at least 100whp difference. I had a little honda civic sohc with a turbo that was easily a 14.3 @ 97+ car and we ran once on stock and I blew him away bad by the end of 3rd gear which was only about 80. He put it on performance and I couldn't walk away from him until we were over 70. I'd estimate on stock setting I was at least 10 car lengths ahead of him by then.

He also had 22inch rims on 40" tires and was lifted 9" total. Being that high up and lighting up those massive tires was something fierce. If you've never heard 40"+ tires being white smoked, it sounds so damn cool.

Cant speak for a duramax but our stock 06 cummins Dodge single cab/6 ft bed is a real beast. I used it quite a few times to pull my 24 ft box trailer and boats and it did great. I would definitely buy one for my own if I was towing a lot or long distance. I love the straight 6 engines, lots of big rigs got em.
