Magna Flow Removed

The 2500HD that I bought had a magnaflow muffler on it. 2 inlets, 2 outlets. The outlets have about 6" of pipe and are turned down.

I did not like the sound (okay so I am old). I had my muffler shop replace it with the stock goods. Much quieter now.

Anybody looking for a used magnaflow? It is sitting in the back of my truck.

Shoulda run full tailpipes out the back. You would have liked it much better. I used to love the sound of my 14" dual-in, dual-out muffler on my 06 HD. Turndowns make too much drone to enjoy anything.

Ya big mistake, you should have just run two pipes out the back. I just had that installed and it sounds SICK! No drone inside, and great sound outside.

After i bought my 2001 1500HD with the 6.0 Iwanted to do some customizing and started with a magnaflow muffler in the stock location with single outlet in the stock location. What a mistake. Didn't get to the end of the street before I knew it had to come off. Droned like mad and would have driven me mad if I would have kept it. turned right around and went back and the muffler shop took it off and re-installed the original no problem. Much better. Have had differing opinions on why it did this. Some say the crew cabs are the only ones that do it. Others say its the 6.0 liter engine. Not sure exactly but I only know my truck did not like Magnaflow at all.

I did the same thing you did, I added a new stainless steel magnaflow & the drone drove me nuts. I tried adding two resonators between the cat & the muffler & that did not help. I reinstalled the stock system to quiet the drone, it was an expensive mistake for me.

I put the 12599 muffler on my truck in place of the factory piece of shit and it sounds great. I'd be lying if i said i had no drone but who are we kidding these motors drone like a bitch. It's sounds awesome and the drone is only a little worse than the factory drone. I didn't lose any torque from doing this too.
