Problem With Reman Transfer Case

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just replaced the GM246 auto transfer case in my 2003 Suburban with a remanufactured unit. Unfortunately it's not working quite right. 2 hi is fine. When I hit the button for 4 hi I can hear the servo motor try to shift twice, the 4hi light blinks a couple of times, and on the third try the 4 hi light stops blinking and the Auto light comes on. At this point I'm pretty sure it's actually in 4 hi, because I get some binding in the front end when I make a tight turn. 4 lo seems to work just fine. Any thoughts? All the various settings were working before.

Where was the transfer case "remanufactured"? Where did you buy it?

At a place in South Carolina. They're going to make good on it, but I thought I'd see if there were any common problems.

where abouts in SC?

Spartanburg. Transfer Case Express. http://www.transfercases.com/ They've been very nice about everything. I though I'd just try and find out if there was some simple goofy thing going on. I don't think so though. There's no adjustment on the shift motor or anything like that.
