Wierd Question On 2010 Silverado Third Brake Light

I had a weird question about my third brake light on my silverado. I had a 1999 Before, and had a button to push for lights in the bed, and i believe when I unlocked the truck the clear portion of the third brake light lit up. On my silverado there is no button and when unlocking, locking, etc, they do not light up at all. I was wondering if it should, or is it just clear for looks in the two spots?

The cargo lights only come on when you turn the switch to turn your interior lights on.

Yea that is the only feature (cargo light button) that I miss from my gmt-800

GM took a big step back on this, absolutely no reason for the cargo light to be tied in with the dome light switch.

id say it evens out because on the 99-02 GMT800's you have to hit the DOMEOVERRIDE 4 times in a row to turn the lights off... its just annoying
