What size tire will fit??

I'm sure this topic has been brought up a million times.  It's tire time, and I need to know what size tire will fit in my 2000 GMC Yukon XL 3/4 Ton 2wd.  I read alot about 285's, but thats on 4wd trucks.  Same for mine?  I wanna go with a set of BFG All-Terrains.  I have had them in the past and love them.  I need to keep the load rating up also.  Well, thanks in advance for all the help.

Does a 3/4 ton 2wd Yukon have coil springs or torsion bars up front?

 

Without having the ability to crank the bars, you may only be able to go plus1 on tire size (265's).  That is what I did on my 4x4 2500HD and I was very happy with the way the new tires filled the wheelwells.  I know on the 4x4 3/4 ton trucks, some guys are cranking their bars and others don't have too when they go to 285's...

You can fit 285's without cranking, you may have to do minor trimming, but the best way to find out is to go to the tire store and let them put the different sizes on the front to see what happens. They will definitely fit on the rear.  Any "GOOD" tire store will do this for you!!  I saw a yukon xl with 31x10.50's and they looked good too.

There should be coil springs on the Yukon, so no cranking.  Furthermore, last time I checked, you couldn't get BFG's in a 285 with an E load range like the stock 245's.  I'll second Shane's vote for 265's and you may consider 255/85/16's.  They're taller but not as wide, ie no rubbing -

I thought all 2000 and newer Tahoe, Yukons and Surburbans had torsion bar suspension>

The 2000 Yukon XL has independent front torsion bar suspension and rear self-leveling, five-link coil-spring underpinnings make for fewer squeaks and rattles and better handling. The three-quarter ton suspension uses multileaf springs and a semifloating rear axle.
