Anyone Running 285/65r18 Nitto Trail Grapp's Please Read.

I am looking to purchase a set of 285/65R18 Nitto Trail Grapplers but I would like to know if any owners of them could do me a favor and take some measurements of them while mounted on their truck. I am looking for the height and width( tread width which actually makes contatct with road, and overall width ). Also what width rim you are running and what PSI you are running in them as well.

I am going to be running a levelling kit plus a 1.5" body lift, just want to make sure they are the size I am looking for. Ive heard they run narrow, which i don't want, thats all.

I'm not sure who told you they run narrow but I completely dissagree. These are the widest 285's I have ever seen and look more like a 33x12.5 than a 285 tire. If you look up a cooper SST in a 305/60/18 or a BF KM2 in a 305/60/18, which is their 33x12.5 for an 18" wheel, the dimensions are pretty darn similar and BF's run small. I would say if you are worried about width then slap a 33x12.5 on.

Not sure if it helps your question...but I run 285/65R18 BFG's on my 08 Chevy Silverado 1500, with a Truxxx lift/levelling kit, they are inflated to factory specs and I have no clearance issues. My bro-in law has an 09 in a Sierra, same BFG's, same lift, and his tires are also fine. We both were thinking we should have tried to go a little bigger.

Your thinking you should go bigger cause BFG's run small. I run 285/70/17 BFG's and feel the same way. Thus the reason I'm soon stepping up to a 285/70/17 Nitto Trail Grappler (if they ever come off back order). My BFG's measured out to 32.5" tall. Nitto's site says theirs are 33.1" and I'm sure they are actually bigger than that.

Mini-rant here...WHY IN THE HELL CAN'T THEY ACTUALLY STANDARDIZE WHAT SHOULD BE STANDARD?

 

I mean FFS, the size is WRITTEN ON THE SIDE OF THE TIRE!!! Why in the hell is there a variance between brands, hell, even between differing models within the same brand?

 

Not THAT big of a deal on trucks...But my car is VERY finicky about tires. I have to get that crap right to within 2mm on the inside and outside or they rub the fender, the shock, the strut...I've got two sets of tires mounted on wheels sitting in the shop. Both tires are identical (in size)...yet one is over 1/2" wider at the tread shoulder and almost 3/4" taller.
