Cant Wait To Get My New Truck Next Year

Plan on getting a chevy crew cab, not sure if i should get 4X4 or 2WD, 6.2 then going through the engine and changing out the rear, hopeful mods include supercharge, I dont think I wanna go the twin turbo route cause it doesnt seem very muscle like, full blow custom exhaust, cam kit, maybe beef the tranny up, but not much, intake, and more than likely a BB tune to really unleash the beast, if all goes well when i get back from the desert will be gettin the truck with some or all of the mods, if something happens to prevent this from happening, i will be heartbroken and probably cry..... but I dont think that will happen. any recommendations?

Sounds slick.

Hope so, wife isn't completely on board just yet but she will come around lol.

I have a recommendation...Take the price of all the parts you're thinking about adding...And double it. That's how much forced induction costs unless you're supremely handy and have a ton of tools.

As for supercharger/turbo...Depends on what you want out of the truck.

And personally, I just bought a car and made it fast, and leave my trucks close to stock for reliability purposes. Modifying a daily driver to the hilt is never a good idea in my opinion. It WILL break.

Very true, but I def. Wont be to the floor with it all the time, its just a good feeling when you know you have enough power and torque to dust the a hole who thinks every stop light is a drag race tree, gets quite annoying lol. Even though you don't necessarily have to race em'

you seem a bit confused...

-if you get a 6.2L Crew Cab Truck it will have the 6L80e transmission - there isn't really any issues with this transmission and I don't know of ANYONE that has parts to make it stronger, yet

-if you get a 6.2L truck it will have a 14 bolt rear end from the factory. This rear is not prone to failure like the 10 bolt in most 1/2 ton trucks. not sure why you would care about "upgrading" a rear that isn't known to fail in the first place.

-you say "go through the engine", then later something about a "cam kit", not sure what you are defining as "going through the motor" since you put that as a separate item. Maybe you want fancier bolts, I dunno, not much to "go through" on a perfectly good 6.2L. I hope you understand that while there is some vendors that will assemble a "cam kit", there's a lot more to it than that.

-you mention forced induction. Then you mention "intake", but you were leaning towards superchargers. Any roots supercharger will replace the intake manifold and include the intake tract modifications.

-you mention "maybe a bb tune". Do you realize that a truck with a cam and especially with a supercharger would either not idle or last about 3 minutes without a proper tune? A tune is mandatory, and I wouldn't screw around with mail order tunes with the type of setup you are talking about.

-you talk about a full exhaust, that's pretty much a given with the rest of the mod list.

if you seriously have the $60,000+ to pull off what you are talking about I highly suggest you spend some time on a site such as performancetrucks.net and learn a thing or two from people that have been there and done that.

I've had my hands in enough "built" trucks both under the hood and behind the tuning computer. You really should do a little more research about what mods would work well together and how they would work together to get beyond spewing off a list of performance mods.

Look at the child who got butt hurt when I told everyone what "so simply described mods" I planned on getting over a year from now if not longer, oh also, maybe they might have certain aftermarket products built within that time frame, I dunno just a guess probably, also do you think I myself plan on cracking open this plan by myself? When your in the military, protecting "your rights and freedom" note: some people dont deserve that right."" you really dont have time to do work that could take a few days, nor the equipment to do so either, maybe cause we are moved from station to station, though they do have on base auto shops, but they arent the best nor is the equipment. So I guess child dreamkiller just ruins anyones further advances towards their dream truck/car. well maybe not mine but its whatever. :flag:

You asked for recommendations and then tried to put him on blast for giving recommendations....I don't get it but it sounded to me like he was just trying to give you some direction on what you may or may not want to mod since it would be a brand new truck. some of which you may not even need to mess with depending on the route you go. Could save you some time and money in the long run especially if you won't end up needing to spend money on transmission or rear end work if it can handle FI as is.

I honestly dont know what the fvck that last post was supposed 2 mean but he was trying to help you. Reading through your initial post u kinda sounded like a bumbling fool with no real idea what he wants and is just dreaming big.

I hope u realize that there are a lot better things to do with your money, but if you insisnt in wasting it, then be smarter.. By "be smarter" i mean dont buy shit twice, or shit u dont need. Dont buy an intake, then a supercharger... or dont go buy some headers, than a turbo kit, or dont by a black bear tune, then throw the cam in, or the supercharger in, blah blah..

And if u dont understand the reason im sayin this, then u need to do some research on just exactly what the **** ur talking about. BTW sayin turbo is less muscle is wrong.. i mean i understand what your trying to say, but if u want to go as fast as u can for ur $ ur gonna want turbos.

Yeah, I would certainly trim that mod list down a little...maybe it's just my personal taste but I think it gets a little crazy to buy a brand new vehicle and then start adding and changing all this stuff. I can understand adding custom exhaust, maybe a new sound system, but with a brand new truck order it like you want it and leave the motor, transmission, and rear end alone. Unless off course the have excessive amounts of money and can buy the vehicle and all mods out right with no debts without hurting your savings account. In that case reliability is not a big issue either.

eh, f*ck it ill just buy the C19 when it comes out, obviously they have they same idea, just not extre stuff like i want, or maybe they do..... they do.....

I think everyone should just calm down. The guy is just excited about coming home and treating himself to a new truck.

--1st post, out of lurker status, I guess...

Yes everyone calm down and watch the language. Everyone has their own opinion and style please RESPECT that.

True but facts are facts. Some of the mods he listed DO NOT and CAN NOT work together. There was a suggestion made by someone that knows what they are talking about trying to help another GM guy and that person in turn threw a fit like a small child. Guess that's the price you pay when you make a post that makes the OP and everyone that reads it realise they don't know what they are talking about. :flag:
