at least I was close to home but the Escalade is HEAVY to push...

I have found Delco Pumps for about $350 + Shipping

question is on install- My buddy at a local dealer says he can do it for around $300

How Hard is the replacement? I know it is in the fuel tank (Which is 1/2 full)

In an SUV, it's going to be a pain unless you have a lot of the right equipment. In pick ups, it's generally easier to remove the bed instead of the tank. Not an option in an SUV, really. This means you have to drop the tank. With 1/2, lets estimate there is about 13 gallons in the tank. 13 x 6.5 lbs per gallon is about 85 lbs of (highly combustible) fuel sloshing back and forth as you try to gently lower the tank down. This also doesn't include the weight of the tank. Remember, this is only after you've successfully unhooked the wiring, ground and filler/vent tubes. Now, after replacing the pump, using special brass tools so as to not cause a spark and ruin your whole day, you have to put the tank back up and hook up all of the stuff you disconnected. It's your call, but with an SUV, I think I'd pay the $300 for someone else to do it. And I have a good floor jack and the brass drift and a 1200 square foot shop to do it in! Good luck!

AAA woukd cover that. However I've had some ideas tossed at me. I can cut a hole In my bed- rather than drop the tank.

This should cut down on time and make it easier.

Ive seen that done a few times, however, would you rather cut a big hole in the bed of your cadillac or spend the whole hour on re and re time?

I did mine in my old 98' GMC Yukon, it's really not that hard. A jack, some 2x4s, 2 people, time and patience is all it takes. And my brother changed the one in his 03' Avalance by himself, no cutting. I'm tight with my money, so I don't like to pay people to do what I can for free.

Git it knocked out today. Used my friends lift and (Other than the 1/2 full gas tank) it was fairly easy.

we decided to drop the tank... Only took 2 hours and that was with us taking fun photos with the fill hole on the tank :D
