Level kit, Blocks And Tires On New Truck

Here are some pics of my 2011 Crew Cab Z71 4x4. Had to upgrade recently from the 2009 Extended Cab because the kid's seats wouldn't fit in the back without a major effort. I added the Rough Country Leveling Kit, the Readylift 2" Blocks (with the Bilstein 5100 rear leveling shocks from the old truck) and then added some new rubber.

 

So here is the truck stock from the dealership.

It occurs to me that I put 'lift kit' in the subject line when I meant 'leveling kit.' So anyway here is the truck with the Rough Country Leveling Kit. Actually a pretty easy install after watching the Youtube video.

Here is the truck with the Readylift 2.25 inch blocks in the back to restore the rake (for those odd occassions when I tow the camper or make a run to the big box store for plywood and drywall). I also swapped out the rear shocks for the Bilstein 5100 levelling shocks that I pulled off the old truck.

Here is the final product with the new tires. Upgraded to 33s. Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro Grade LT275/70R18. Felt it was a good compromise from a true off road tire that wouldn't shake my kids teeth loose on the highway when we go to visit the grandparents. Pretty happy about how it all turned out.

For those of you who are interested in that type of thing here are some measurements that I took to keep track of the truck height as I modified it. Unfortunately I measured from the ground (realised after I should have meaured from the bottom of the rim) to the top of the wheel well so some of the data is definitely skewed by the air pressure in the tires or the roll of the ground.

 

Stock

 

Front Left - 36

Front Right - 36 3/4

Rear Left - 38

Rear Right - 37 1/2

Roughly maintained the 2 inch difference between the front and rear tires as it came stock from the dealership and haven't noticed any difference in the ride. Finally got to do all the stuff that I wanted to do to the last truck right off the bat with this one... which is good as plan to run this one into the ground. Unless GM actually puts the GMC All Terrain HD Sierra concept into production.

My right side of the truck front, and rear measures higher than the left as well. I guess its a normal occurrence after I did some reading. Truck looks good, I need to throw my 2.5 rear spacer on, and order up that 3 inch BL.
