dwhitton Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I have a 2009 SLE with the 18" Chrome covered aluminum option. These covers are not held on by the wheel nuts, but are glued on the main spokes in spots. i have one coming loose. Does anyone know what type of glue will work best to tack it back on? Thanks
BlackZ71Silverado Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 It's a shame GM has gone that cheap with wheels. That was another reason I went with a Silverado instead of the Sierra. Was going to get a Sierra All Terrai nbut hated the wheels and did not want to spend more money buying wheels for a brand new truck. What do the wheels look like under the cheap covers? Try some Gorilla glue if you need to glue them back on. Is the truck still under warranty?
jimbrown1 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Should still be covered under warranty if it's a 2009. Ask the dealer if they can provide some of their aftermarket 20" wheels and you'd just pay the difference between the stock and aftermarket wheels. You'd be much happier.
dwhitton Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 Like to put 20's on, but the problem with that is I just put $1000 of new Michelin LTX rubber on the 18's last month. The cover isn't coming completely off, just under 1 spoke is moving off the aluminum. I have no idea what they look like under the covers.
jimbrown1 Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 There was a user on this forum who had the chrome come off his chrome clad wheels and he posted a pic of them. Not a bad looking wheel if you want black. Try searching the forum for his post and pics.
Fallz Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I have the chrome clad 18" wheels , but even though I don't like that because it's cheap looking I planned on different wheels anyway so I was ok with them from factory . It is cheap crap IMO though.
