Truck In The Shop

Had to have my truck towed to the dealer today. Stabilitrak and Traction control warnings came on. Also, the check engine light came on. I had reduced power and choppy idle. I have 95,400 miles so far on my 5.3 engine. I'm hoping it's a simple electrical issue. I tried turning the truck off and starting it again a few times. The warning lights reset each time but soon came back on after just a few minutes at idle. The choppy idle never went away.

I'll post back when I hear from the dealer.

Don't know if this will help, but I had the same exact problem with my wife's Acadia. Turned out to be the manual shift detent lever. Fixed under warranty, no problems since. Good luck!

UPDATE: Dealer called. A lifter collapsed. They are replacing all of them under warranty. Just thought I'd pass it along for future reference. Good timing...I'm just 5,000 miles shy of 100,000 miles.

Mine had the same warnings come up about a month ago. My truck had approx. 45k miles at the time and they replaced the throttle body under warranty. It has been trouble free since but the 15mph limp mode drive to the dealer was fun...

I had a chance to talk to the mechanic today who worked on my truck and replaced the lifters last week. I was curious how the inside of the engine looked (wear, sludge, etc) since the engine has 95,000 miles on it. He said the engine looked good and "the cam looked great....no signs of wear". So, I was happy to hear that. I've been using synthetic oil since new so, I don't know, maybe that had a little to do with it. Regardless, I felt good hearing that from him. He also mentioned that he removed both heads....so I got new head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, manifold gaskets, etc, all covered under powertrain warranty. Not to mention the new lifters.

All in all, a good experience.
