Finally Decided On Wheels....

Ok, well I finally decided on what wheels I want to get, but they have two different specs I could go with...

8" wide wheel with 0 offset 4.5 backspace

or

9" wide wheel with +6 offset- 5.25 backspace

I know on these trucks they need positive offset, but I am kinda confused because I think the 9" wide wheel will actually "stick out" more than the 8" wheel, due to the specs, so which one would cause less problems?? I always thought that the farther it sticks out the more chance it has to rub.. So would the 8" rub less even though it has less backspace due to the rim width??

my question is what wheels r you finding wheels with these specs?

Pro Comp, American Racing, Centerline..... pretty much all of the major companies make these sizes...

What would it matter who makes them??

It depends what look you want, with a 285 the 8inch wide 0 offset will sit basically flush with the front fender lip and the 9 inch +6 offset will pass it just slightly and then of course the width of the tire will also effect that.

Curious what combo you are thinking about?

I know you guys will rag me, but I want to run a 17" or 18" rim with a 285/70/17 or 285/65/18 tire... I just like the look of a bit bigger sidewall, Im old school...lol....They make the wheels in a 17 x 8 or 18 x 8 inch rim with 0 offset/4.5 b.s..... or 17 x 9 or 18 x 9 with a +6 and 5.25" b.s... I already have a 2.5" level and 3" blocks... So im pretty sure it will be close to fitting, maybe a minor plastic trim..

The 9" wide will only stick out .25" further than the 8" in this case.

So get the 9"... its not like you're talking about 3/4 or 1" of difference... its .25", hell, flip a coin

17s can be cool, plus you get lighter weight, better ride and cheaper setup...likely should have just got the 17s I liked cuz once it has the right tire and offset it basically looks as good as a bigger wheel

Thanks... I never though I would hear that on these boards...lol ...But I agree, with the right wheel and offset and tire, they can and do look good

17s look great and down right sporty when wrapped with white lettered tires. The real question is are they black(painted) rims or not?

NO WAY!!.. These are high polished aluminum or I could get chrome... Im sticking with the polished though..I like the look better... Again I go against most people here and really dont like black rims that much...

And yes, there will be white letter tires !! :D
