the charged 4.3 in a s10 would be a beast in a mud truck because of weight... but it all depends on what you will be doing with it.

I read an article a while ago (think it was super chevy or high performance chevy.....) but they put a cam and a charger on a 4.3 and it made over 500hp before it started to push the head gaskets. Believe they put like 18#'s to it. The other thing was the more they reved it, the more power it made, never seemed to taper off.

Yea but still by the time you by a supercharger, cam, custom tune+extras like gaskets,if anything breaks plus the time. Its not worth the headache. They came with 175hp thats factory so you have to account for the drive train loss which usually 20% so it putting around 145hp to the ground a supercharger and cam with a nice tune would be around 250hp to the ground still not more then a 5.3L.Shit i can grab a 5.3L vortec with 78k on it for 500 bucks!youll pay 500 bucks just for the cam and tune.

A supercharger kit will run about 5k, and will not give a 100% increase in power. But, it will give you a large amount of torque in the range you normally drive in. I installed a Mossleman supercharger kit in a 2000 Mercedes ML320. Mosselman claimed a near 150 lbft increase in torque for that engine. Truck weighs approx 6000 pounds. Before the supercharger this SUV was just scary to drive around town. Took your life into your hands when pulling out of a parking lot into traffic. After the install, it was like it had a much larger engine. It was a blast to drive that truck, even with the v6. It got better mileage if you stayed out of the throttle as well.

How many people have the money to buy a supercharger?the money for the results arent worth it bottom line.Buy yourself a syclone!

Sell your '97 truck. Add the $6K that a supercharger will cost and buy the '07 truck that you want. You are asking for a big loss of $ and a lot of headaches.

If it were a '57 GMC 389......... that would be a different story.

All our vehicles have blowers, except sadly, the Nali.

In all honesty, you have to know what you want out of the blower, before spending money on one. I loved having the get up and go on the Tahoe. Being able to mere with traffic at the same speed, getting up to cruise quicker- those were the things I wanted.

But I say, if you are going to do it, do it right- know what supporting mods you will also incorporate, and the end state.

I read some time about, the marine 4.3liter intakes(cheap to pick up), injectors, headers and a tune actually liven the 4.3 liter up.. But im still agreed with the 5.3 liter swap.. id keep the motor in the garage and build on it for a while though before throwing it in.
