i was looking at some new trucks the other day and i dont see any manuals anymore, so i went home and checked online and appears you cant even order a manual truck...

Nope,No manual trans.trucks anymore, demand does not warrant offering them anymore according to GM.

Demand does not warrant making them, because there isn't anyone smart enough to drive them anymore. Besides, how are you supposed to talk on the phone, work your gps, and eat while you are trying to shift? lol

You just have to have tallent. You know you are really good when you can do all that and drink a soda in Fort Worth rush-hour traffic while pulling a trailer.

Definately mor fun to drive a manual when you can jam gears, but definately not fun in stop and go traffic. I dont mind a manual if I can play, or when taking long trips, but in the city it sucks.

A manual trans cant keep up with a tuned auto. The manual more gear advantage is gone.

It's not all about "keeping up". It is also about having fun and being in full control of the vehicle instead of having some dumb computer decide for you what gear you should be in. I have several automatic vehicles and 5 speed manual Mazda and I have more fun driving my Mazda. This is why I have over 308,000 miles on it. And I certainly would not give up the manual transmissions in my motorcycles either.

It should be about choice. And they are screwing those of us who like manual transmissions by not even offering it in many vehicles. Why can company like BMW ofer a manual transmission on nearly every model they make, including their $ 100k+ M6 sedans? GM should have kept the manual transmission option at least on the work trucks.

yep - sucks. unless you want to upgrade to a diesel.

this truck is my first auto and i hated having to do it... but there is no choice in the truck market.

if you're not shiftin... you're not drivin...

No, manual transmission is not even available with the diesel from GM. I do not know about Ford, but Dodge still offers a 6 speed manual on their diesel trucks.

I second this, I tend to sell quite a few clutches.... Truck or Car.... Some people know they shouldn't drive a manual.

My sister, can't drive one. All she gets is the rabbit hop, only person I have seen cause rabbit hop in 5th gear.... That whole extra pedal.....

My left knee hurts to much any ways to drive a stick.

I think you can still get a manual trans gmt900 with the V6 engine for sale only in Mexico. Aye Carumba!

Edit

Wikipedia says: "As of 2008, General Motors full size trucks are no longer sold in United States and Canada with manual transmissions, they are only offered in Mexico in the Silverado 1500 V6 engine and Silverado 3500 "
