Z71 Appearance Package

does any one have this option on a 2011 silverado? I was wondering if the floor mats or door plates have the z71 logo. I want to add something with this logo to the interior of my truck. Any other ideas? Thanks

[/size]Our 2011' Silverado Black seats came with Red & Silver embroider Z71 4x4 headrests! They are very trick looking and catch your eyes when walking by the truck in a parking lot.

The headrest looks good. I have seen many of them on the Z71's and old ZR2's that were done like that. Unfortunately it's not a factory option. There are dealers that have things like this done and they jack up the price claiming it's a "special or limited" edition. I have my ZR2 headrests done, after seeing yours, I may have to get them done in my 2010....Looks really good.

You may have a point about my Z71 headrests coming in a special edition package. I pulled out my price sticker and noticed that it came with a $2775 "All Star Edition" option package that included many of the required options that must be ordered with the Z71 Package.

The headrests were a dealer add on, no special editions or anything else have that. All Star is just the 5.3 and some of the popular options bundled.

Can you get the Z71 appearance package without the Z71 package? You know, for posers.

Z71 has been a meaningless package for years anyhow. It never really meant much but at least the older trucks got better shocks and other bits. For a while now Z71s came with brandless shocks and I think the G80 was even an option for a while too. My '03 wasn't a Z71 but it had just about everything the Z71 did anyhow. On the new trucks the appearance pkg comes with the Z71 pkg.

And the seat headrests were a dealer add-on, not something GM offers from the factory. They do look sharp though!

yeah i had a friend that was trying to buy a used 2008 Z71 and i just reminded him to make sure it was 4WD, since the new body style also come in 2WD Z71 package as well. He seriously did not believe me and thought i was making it up. The truck he was looking at was a 2WD with leveling kit with mud tires so he assumed 4x4. That is one package I seriously don't understand, 2WD Z71? lol

Any idea where I could get the headrests?

When I was looking at new trucks (before deciding on a used one), I went on a lot and saw a new Z71 for under 30k. I thought, "What a deal!" Turns out it was the 2WD version. I thought that was an oximoron if I had ever hears of one.

so from what i just read, those headrests are not a gm part and were added by the dealer? if they are a gm part, i would love to know where to purchase some. if not, i would still like to purchase some. if you cannot purchase some, we have a really good interior man where i live. may need to let him keep my headrests for a few days. i would also be interested in a set of sill plates that say "silverado" in the strip... although i am sure they do not exist.

Headrests aren't factory. My door plates just say Chevrolet but maybe some aftermarket company has Silvy ones. But I like these as they're not chrome/highly polished. That would just get wrecked fast.

I have those head rests and they are factory.

like previously stated they are not from the factory

Woo Boy did I open a can of worms. I bought this truck new in February and have always considered these fancy headrests as just being part of the Z71 option package. Apparently that's not the case, at least it's not a part of the standard GM Z71 package. I will have to have a talk with my service manager the next time I drop my truck off for an oil change to see what he knows about the origin of my headrests.

They are not part of any Z71 package, they were added by a dealer. There are dealers in my area that do things like this all the time. They have people come in and do embroidery, over-lays on the interior trim, accessories, lift kits, and they charge you extra for the little things like the embroidery. Don't be suprised if the service manager says they are factory, chances are he may truly not know.

They so stand out and look good, IMO you were lucky to have that done for you, makes your truck different from most others.

as said above. Here are a few photos. The floor mats are the same as other trucks.

The sill is covered up by my weathertechs but you can get the idea. Also threw one in of the gauge cluster

those weathertechs look like the real deal, those would be a good investment going into the winter. where is a good place to find them?

    • Although there is a "recommended" weight by those who sell trailers, my experience has been that they are way too aggressive in their information, for me at least. My '22 with 6.6 Gas, has a payload of about 3400 lbs and depending on your specs (I don't have 4WD so it has a bit higher Payload than others) yours will likely be different. Payload is one of the most important numbers for towing. Although you "could" tow the max trailer weight for your truck, I, personally, would not go close to that number. Having said that, a lot depends on how/where you will be towing. I live in the LMD of BC and often tow to Denver, Co, along interstates (flat and mountains) and I find I need to keep it in 5th (6spd) for the trip and travel at around 65mph. This is for a trailer dry weight of just under 3500lbs. If you are only doing local, short trips, it would not be that big an issue if you had a heavier unit. You will be surprised how much stuff you load the trailer with, so I would only recognize the trailers "full" GVWR weight rating, then decide on the appropriate trailer from that number. If you are worrying about how much stuff you should be putting in a trailer, you might have too large a rig from the get-go. Once again, depending on what terrain/distance in which you will be pulling. Marv
    • davester, Thanks for the response, how ever, I think I am now a bit more confused than I was before I posted - - After I posted, I actually found a YT video of a guy who replaced his Module (above tire) and he only disconnected the ground cable of the battery, but you describe rubbing the two cables together after disconnecting. I presume that is to do as you describe and eliminate any residual energy? - When I picked up the Module (between my posting and reading your response) from the dealer, I specifically asked about any re-programming and he stated it was not necessary as it was simply plug and play. Don't know how knowledgeable he is, though. - The video I watched also showed the Module plug to be difficult to "unlock" and remove, but there was no mention of silicone, although the video did show a bunch of dust/dirt in and around the plug (old truck) during removal. Are you talking about silicone that was applied by the factory, or silicone that you applied prior to plugging in? Thanks again, Marv
