2011 Sierra Retractable Bed Cover

I just bought a 2011 texas edition Sierra Crew Cab with the 5.8ft truck bed. What retractable bed cover are you guys using? Are there any retractable bed covers that are water proof? I had a pace edwards retractable bed cover on my 06 F150 and it was not water proof.

I'm looking for on that is water proof so I can use the truck to travel with my family. We could load up the stuff in the truck bed and now worry about it getting wet.

I don't think that any covers that are available are 100% water tight, but most are very very close. Myself, I would get a BakFlip cover because you have the short box. I think you will find with other brands that you will loose too much usable bed space ie. Final panel is fixed, and cannot open. Maybe a bed cap would be a better otion for your uses?

I found the BakFilp G2 new for $657shipped. Do you have any personal expierence with the BakFlip? How does it connect to the tailgate? Thats where my pace edwards leaked at on my F150 where the cover ends at the tailgate.

The BakFlip ends before the tailgate and I'm not sure what it has at the end. I have a Extang Solid Fold that is pretty good at keeping water out but I would not recommend it.

The BakFlip ends before the tailgate and I'm not sure what it has at the end. I have a Extang Solid Fold that is pretty good at keeping water out but I would not recommend it.

My pace edwards on my F150 leaked alot of water. It leaked where it connected to the tailgate. I dont mind a few drips. I want a retractable cover the leaks the least.

the bak flip has a rubber seal that lays over the top of the tailgate, you shut your tailgate, then the bak flip, everytime you open your tailgate you'll need to open the the bakflip to lift it up and shut it after so the seal sits correctly.

no bed cover will ever be water proof.

as far as more water resistant retractable covers i love the truck cover usa, its a far better retractable cover than roll nl ock, pace edwards, retrax, and the roll bak.

i've personally installed all of these and prefer the truck cover usa over any of them (no i do not own one, never have, never will i dont want to give up bed space and it would be in my way loading atv/dirtbike in the bed) the truck cover usa has a rubber seal that presses up against the tailgate, and has small adjustments you can very easily make as to how hard it presses against the tailgate. it has 4 drain tubes (one at each corner) and a fairly decent seal all the way around. ive seen them last a hell of alot longer than the others.

I have a G2 on my truck. I decided on The BakFlip because I lost the least ammount of bed space with it open. The rubber seal isn't half bad, but if it rains real hard, the inside of the tailgate will be a bit damp, but not soaking wet to say the least. The tailgate on our trucks are dimpled like diamond plate, so there will always be small gaps. The only thing I don't like about the rubber seal is sometimes it gets frozen to the top of the tailgate. This usually happens when it gets frosty out. Silicone spray on the seal helps alot, but I need to re-apply every few weeks in the winter time; which really is no skin off my ass. The cover took about 1/2 hour to install, and I can take it right off in about 5 minutes if I need to (less the rails of course). I would buy the F1 cover if I did it again, just a little more durable (I have a few dents in mine already, but I don't treat it kindly).

I had the Pace Edwards on my 1998 and now the GM hard folder on my 2011. Neither is perfect around the tailgate. My solution was to use a bed mat on top of the bedliner, with the mat cut slightly smaller than the truck bed. Then if a little bit of water comes in around the edges of the cover, it runs under the bed mat and out, keeping whatever is on the mat dry. Best solution I have been able to come up with. I did not want a hard one piece cover but I suspect that would be the best.

How much is the truck cover USA? The cheapest I found the bakflip g2 for was $657 shipped.

I like the idea of cutting the bed mat shorter. I have a bed mat off my F150 that I could cut to fit.

Looks like the Truck Cover USA is out of my price range. Might just get the Bakflip since its only $650.

My vote is for the GM Accessories Vinyl Roll Up Cover. Keeps it pretty dry, only cost about 350 new, can be rolled up and removed when needed.

My vote goes for the bakflip. I had a extang full tilt, and although it was nice and i loved it for the convenience of opening the whole thing easily , it was a pain to take off as it was one whole piece..

When my dad was looking for a cover for his new 2011 silverado i steered him towards the bakflip . He went with the G2. It is a very nice cover.

But at first when we installed it, he didnt have the bed caps. which made for fitment issues for sealing. Now he got the bak bed caps and they work great to line it up to the tailgate cap.

The cons to the G2 being the cheaper of the 3 (G2, HD, F1) is it is heavier, the aluminum will dent, and the cover gets extremely hot when in direct sun.

After i saw his cover I wanted one immediately even tho i knew the cons.

I decided to go with the F1 which is the most expensive, but Is the lightest and strongest of the 3.. Does not heat up like a furnace in direct heat. And it does not dent since it is fiberglass on top and aluminum on bottom with foam in middle.

My advice is sign up for stylintrucks.com email list. My dad got his cover with 20% off with free shipping during some sale, And i was fortunate enough to get the same deal!

I got my F1 for around $700, which is an amazing , unheard of price.

Wait for the deal.. stylintrucks seems to have it any big holiday..

Heres how flat the bakflip sits.. And my dads truck is right in front of mine.

and here is with the bakflip open.. It allows access right to the front of the bed minus about 5" for the panel's width sticking up.

bakflip F1 is the way to go, I've had a few covers and like the bakflip best, allows for best use of your bed when open and is very solid when closed..
