Stevens03 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 6.2L option gets you the HD 9.5" hybrid rear end too.

norm69 Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 So, I can order the NHT, then change the wheels to 20" and also get LT tires, correct? Also will need a reprogram for the larger rims as well? Hybrid rear end, only with the NHT option?

Also will need a reprogram for the larger rims as well? Hybrid rear end, only with the NHT option? As mentioned, the 6.2L Comes with the 9.5" rear end and doesn't matter what gears you get. The NHT basically gets you a stiffer rear spring pack and 3.73 gears. And no, you don't have to reprogram for 20" wheels. Its when you change the overall diameter of the tires you'd need to reprogram. As in going stock 31" tires to say 33" tires. My truck came wtih the 265's on 17" wheels and tires which were a 32" tire and I went to 20" with 305/50r20's which is the same overall diameter just wider. No issues

DoMDrty Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 The 20 in tires would most likely reduce your tow weight not to mention increase your stopping distance. I just put my 17s back on when ever I have to pull a trailer (which isn't often).
music Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Whats the hybrid part of the 9.5? I keep hearing it, whats special? Why are they sticking hybrid on the rear diff? Is it not the regular 14 bolt?Jbo It's a mix of parts from the 8.625 and 9.5 axles. There is nothing in it that matches the full-float 10.5 and 11.5 axles they put on the 2500HD/3500HD. I don't know the exact mix of parts, but the vertical load rating is the same on the hybrid 9.5 and the standard 8.625. The differential and carrier housing is obviously from the older 9.5" axle, and they put a disc brake system on most that I've seen (again, not the same brakes as on the HD trucks). I think the main reason for the special axle is to handle the stress of the bigger motor when towing at high loads.
norm69 Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 What's the approximate time it takes to get truck if you order one with the NHT package, SLT crew, 4WD? Or an ordered truck in general, thanks.

Or an ordered truck in general, thanks. Mine took 6 weeks from the date of order to take delivery. The time varies depending on your location but the wait isn't that bad.
