Using Rain-x On Windshield

Ive used rainx since the day ive started driving and will continue to use it. Ive been a firm believer in find something that works , stick with it..

I have found a couple tricks to using it tho.

First thing i do is wash the windows with invisible glass in the aresol can. Ive found a trick to using it is apply it with newspaper. I always choose the paper with standard print and not a ton of color.. Works great. I found out about it online.

Next after the widow is all clean, spray the rain x on a microfiber towel. and apply as if you were washing the window with it.. After your first coat, reapply a second coat in the same manor. I tend to do the first coat going horizontal, and the second vertical.

The last most important step is to mist the window with plain water. Then wipe it with a clean microfiber towel. This will take off the haze that the rain x sometimes leaves.

I also you rain x windshield washer fluid. (orange in winter and green in summer).. This entends the coating you applied to the window.

Follow these steps , and you are guaranteed to have a great outcome with a great product.

I don't like RainX on mirrors. It's OK on windshields but on mirrors water beads up instead of sheeting and I find the mirrors hard to use. I don't know how the heated mirrors work. The RainX mirrors are especially bad at night.

I have used Rain x for over 30 years and really like it on windshields only, fresh coat, without automated carwash wax or over a month old. On side glass and mirrors it beads up and causes excess light refraction and makes it very difficult to see on rainy nites. The key to clear vision, especially at night is to have clean windows and mirrors that sheet the water off. A product available a Napa is No Touch glass stripper. It is like a liquid polishing compound that cleans exterior windows, not mirrors. It will remove hard water spots, Rain X, and most importantly for alot of us, the wax that carwashes spray on everything. As I am now pushing 50, it is harder to see at night, especially in the rain in traffic, with you A__HOLES that use your foglights in traffic. I tried the rainx windshield fluid and it made a mess of my windshield. This stuff did a great job of cleaning my windows. Observe the windshields around you in the rain and most of them are smeared badly. A few carwashes and that is how mine look. Time to clean tham again. Don't forget to clean or replace your contaminated wipers or they will smear again. I hope this helps and turn off your damn fog lights in traffic and adjust your headlights properly. Have a nice day.

Been using Rain X windshield cleaner fluid for as long as the stuff has been out and I love it. It has never made a mess out of my shield. Maybe you can try new wiper blades.

yep I use it on all windows except the windsheild don't like the smearing (worse at nite) works well on sides.

So can it be used on mirrors? heated or not Dave

One other tip related to this post is to use plain Borax to clean glass before any treatments are applied. Use a wet sponge to wash glass and then rinse well.
