I bet once you put on some 18's or 17's it will really haul ass^ my 22's are like boat anchors but they look good. I have a set of Z71 18" oem wheels and tires I put on, it feel like I gained 20-30 hp over the 22's lol.

Those Callaway's look sweet,i don't know how i missed reading about those,but i'm on it now.I haven't been to a Chevy dealer in a while, i bought my 6.2 Sierra off of ebay from a guy an hour and a half away,which wasn't bad.I'm new to the GM 6.2 trucks, i had an 2003 Suburban with a 5.3 that gave me a lot of problems that i bought new in 03.I was in the market for a 2013 GT Mustang that i was going to supercharge,but seeing the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger commercial for the 6.2 GM motor on Speed Channel or Velocity changed my mind and two days later i located my truck on Ebay.

 

Day two on supercharger install, again very brutal because of the temperature and humidity.Another seven hours takes me from step 33 to step 62.Supercharger/Manifold is on and torque down,most of the bolts were a bear to get to and torque,took swiviles,extensions,ratchets,tools all over the place,but got it on and torqued.Fuel rails with the stock injectors are also on,new o-rings to fit blower manifold were supplied and swaped on to stock injectors.Now i have a problem.I didn't number the injector plugs so i don't know which wires go to which injectors on the drivers side.Can somebody take a picture of theirs and post it so i can get a look? The altenator electric plug( it has orange plastic on the weather pack connection) and an injector are on one of the harness wires and the EVAP plug( it has blue plastic on weather pack connection) and another injector are on another part of the harness next to each other,just dont know which is injectors are number one and four on drivers side.If someone could post a picture of theirs it would be greatly appreciated.This is hard work for my old body,but it will be worth it and thanks for the four wheel auto tip

AaronIROCZ is correct. The Iowa Callaway dealer is Karl Chevrolet. I believe they are also the dealer for Minnesota as well. Right now they have a red 540, a white 540 and two black 540's, one 2011 and one 2012. They also have an SC450 Avalanche in stock.

It does pretty well on the street. When you're done you'll find that 4wd auto is you best friend. You won't be able to hook up in 2wd. I've got 305/40 ZR22 BF Goodrich G Force T/A's and can't hook up in 2wd. You will love the launch in 4wd, it's a neck snapper...

 

How tall are your 22's .Do you know if they are as tall as my 17 inch stock wheel and tire combo? What axle ratio do you have? Edited by PDYoung

The tires that I have are 305/40 ZR22's, which comes out at 31.6" tall. Not sure what tires you have, but the conversion is easy. I took my width of 305 millimeters, converted to inches on my cell phone(12.01 inches) times the height plus 22 inches. The height is the number after the width(in red) and is the percentage of sidewall compared to the width. So- in my case it is 12.01 inches times .4(40 percent) equals4.804 inches, times 2(above and below rim) equals 9.608 inches, plus the rim size of 22" for a total of 31.608 inches. As for my gear ratio I have 3.73 gears. Not as aggressive as the 4.10's I had in my VortecMax, and not as highway friendly as the 3.42's that a lot of GM trucks have. I believe the NHT option code (max trailering pack) is standard with 3.73 gears, so you may be running the same. Sorry I can't help with the injector pics, I'd likely break one of those covers I have trying to remove it. Run over to your nearest dealership and take a look at one on the lot...

Thanks SilveradoSC540 for the tire conversion math.I do also have the same 3:73 rear gear.Since we have the same gear ratio's the overall tire/wheel height would affect the acceleration of our trucks if they are different.I'll have to do the math on my tires to see what i have.Correct me please if i'm wrong,but won't a shorter wheel/tire take off quicker?

 

Thanks also to trixter8 for that shot of the drivers side wiring.I used it with some back up information i found last night while researching GM Truck Wiring.I found wiring schematics showing the injector wire color code that i used to double check,all injectors are now correctly hooked up.

 

Day three of supercharger install went pretty good until i got to putting on the serpentine belt.The belt Edelbrock supplied is 117.5 inches long.I need at least another inch or so.I waited for a call back from Edelbrock Tech Line on this one and i never got it. .Auto parts store was almost closed by the time i got to the belt situation.After this belt install, there is one more wiring harness to run for intercooler pump.The pump relay is suppose to be attached to a stud on the fire wall that will be the ground for the pump and it is for the relay to be mounted to,but it's not there on my truck.Some trucks have relays mounted to the firewall and some don't.I'll just ground it to some other spot and mount relay near by,not really a problem,just saying directions are good,but not exact.May not be able to get back to the install until Wednesday.I will keep everybody posted,it won't be long now.Also there is a tune update already i have to download from Edelbrock and install.I already installed the tune that came with the kit when i got it, and the kit for these 6.2 L9H truck motors was just released,i got one of the first ones.The tunes that they provide are 50 state compliant tunes,so on the conservative side.I'll get a custom tune from the local speed shop after i drive around a little while with the supplied tune.

PDYoung, you are correct in the smaller tire equals a better launch. You have less mass to get moving, so you should get moving in a hurry. The taller tire should catch up in the upper rpm range, because at the same rpm the taller tire would be moving a greater distance. Sounds like you're getting close on the install. I too have a conservative tune from Callaway, but with my 5 year 100,000 mile factory warranty still valid I don't dare mess with it. I've considered an Auto Cal from BlackBear, which would allow me to store the Callaway tune, put in a custom tune from Justin, and reload the Callaway tune for any service visits, but for now it's plenty quick so I'll leave well enough alone. Keep us posted!

Install of supercharger finished,truck started right up,no check engine lights,no leaks.I blasted out 50 miles for a shake down run.Nothing bad to report,everything working great.It is now,scarey fast.I'm going to try and put a picture up and i have short video from my phone that i will try to post.

Hey Jonathan how are you doing? Does your Callaway have a boost gauge?If yes how many pounds of boost does your motor make?Also does your truck have headers?I like my supercharger,but i feel like i want just a little more and i was going to add headers,but i'm being told that the stock manifolds are ok for my 7lbs of boost with stock cam and heads.I'm going to get a boost gauge so i can see if i'm at least getting 7lbs.Also n a couple of weeks i'm going to get a custom tune done.I'm a little scared to do it,i'm afraid their going to lean me out too much or up my timing too much and fry my motor,but i know Edelbrock's tune is real conserative.

    • So, do I go elbow-deep on this thing or list it for sale and play dumb? Seems to "runs good."   I'm about $1200 away from having: -a rebuilt injector ($300) -a new cat ($250) -a new cat back exhaust (OE style) ($300) -a new AC compressor ($200) -AC refrigerant charge ($150)   In theory, this should rectify the obvious detracting issues from its value and operability. Cold AC with a non-squeaking AC pulley both sounds and feels good. An exhaust that isn't cut/hacked in 17 different places and doesn't vibrate on a crossmember would make it sound and feel less janky. A working cat would help the stink, and will save the earth, but *if and only if* the fuel system is working properly, which would also address the intermittent "rich" CEL.   Heard a good one... CEL for "Rich condition" means you haven't spent enough money on the truck lately, and it's letting you know.   Rebuilding the injector would seem to be the most important part. Replacing the cat would be secondary. I don't think mine is plugged or overly restricted, but it might be a little restricted? I have no good way to tell other than seat of the pants feel. I hate the smell.   The current theory is I have a rich idle problem: A bad fuel pressure regulator, or a leaking injector(s) being the highest probabilities. I already replaced the FPR but that doesn't mean its replacement isn't also bad. It was a new part from Dorman, but the packaging looked like it had been sitting on a shelf for 20 years.   This is the (single) upstream O2 sensor shown at idle. I'm getting a lot of "rich" it seems. Sometimes it stays high like that and doesn't drop down. That makes me think it's processing injector leaks or a partially stuck open injector.     Other times it looks like this. Nice oscillations between rich and lean, which is what I think it should be. Under load and at speed, the oscillations are nice and tight and uniform looking, high and low.     Fuel trims suggest the PCM is compensating pretty hard at idle to pull fuel out. But it's not enough to trip a CEL. Something about slowing to a stop: brake vaccum booster, EGR, or the EVAP purge is delayed, or there's pooled fuel in the intake again that's draining into a cylinder is enough to set the CEL. Of course, in two days of driving, it hasn't set. I was hoping to actually look at the freeze-frame data when it sets. IAT is high because it's idling on an 83 degree day here.  
    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?  
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
