How do I know if trans pan is deep?

Hi all. I want to do a trans filter change. How do I know if my trans pan is deep or not?

Deep pan is 2 7/8" -3" in depth. You have the deep pan. I've yet to run across the shallow pan on a truck

If its the 4L60E, then if the pan is completely flat on bottom it is a shallow pan. If the pan has a step portion then it is a deep pan.

And I have seen both on 1/2 ton trucks but 99% of the time it is the deep pan.
