Seafoam,, Yes I did do a search

Hi Guys I was wondering if anybody has used it. I regularly use Lucas but wanted to try the Seafoam as I saw it in the store yesterday. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, Jake.

I've used it before both thru the intake and in the fuel tank. Seems to help after running it thru the intake vs fuel. I've since moved to B12 Chemtool if I plan on using it thru the intake. It's cheaper and far more powerful. I cleaned up some old pistons for an engine I was building and was using Seafoam at first to remove carbon along with a toothbrush. Seafoam hardly touched it. Sprayed with B12 and it was night and day difference in effort to remove the carbon on the other pistons.

were do you find the b12 chemtool?

And is it the same idea as seafoam

At auto part stores or wally world, etc... It's a good cleaner/additive. People like the smoke of seafoam :)

I use Seafoam once a year to decarb my Yamaha outboard and whenever needed in the lawn equipment (weed wacker, trimer, etc). It works well on the 2 strokes. I've never used it in a car or truck.

Seafoam is a great product,....... Good engine flush, Bug Fogger (when PCV ingested into the engine), and not telling your neighbors when you run it in the PCV can cause the fire department to show up.

All jokes aside, if you have one that has a rough idle and the plugs are good....

Open a can remove the hose from the PCV valve and allow it to suck the contents into the engine. About a half the bottle without letting it stall out, when you get halfway let the engine stall and stumble to a stop. Let it sit for 45 minutes crank and run. Then Polish off the rest of the bottle in the same manor. And Misquote repellent for a few hours, that gave you cleaner valves and pistons.

Does anybody possibly have any pictures of where you put either Seafoam or the B12 through the intake or brake booster?

I put on a catch can earlier this year and had to run some extra lines from the rear of the driver's side valve cover to the catch can and then another hose from the catch can to the intake. Could I use the the line that runs from the catch can to the intake?

In the picture you can see where the bottom line runs to the top of the intake manifold where the original line ran. Do you think that hose will work?

i got a quick question for everybody. i just did a tune up on my truck (plugs, wires, all filters, oil, etc.... like a couple days ago) and someone mentioned trying sea foam. i have two cans and want to use them before i travel cross state in the morning for christmas and i refuse to replace all of that again until my next oil change. would this be a problem or will it be fine for 3k miles in the oil fuel and intake?

I wouldnt do it right before a trip like that. You should have done it about a week ago just to make sure that you dont have any issues after the application. Sometimes some of the stuff that gets cleaned out can get stuck somewhere it shouldnt, like on a sensor or in the valve seat. Usually it only occurs on really dirty engines, but it does happen. Personally I would wait until after the long trip

Actually, I would wait until the next oil change. Just treat the motor as instructed, change the oil, and drive. Wouldnt worry about the spark plugs unless you start getting firing issues. Then just check each one and clean or replace as needed. Its not a guarantee that it will foul your plugs. Again, its possible, but usully for really dirty engines.

thanks for the quick response with 288,000 miles on it now and me being the second owner (even though i have been anal about engine maintenance) i'm sure shes pretty dirty. thanks again

I have found that my 5,3 did not like having a vac line removed. It kept trying to die. Plus, I didnt really get that much carbon removed with the brake booster line method. I found the Seafoam in an spray can and did that through the intake and the carbon that was removed was astounding. Thats the only way Im gonna do a Seafoam treatment from now on.
