zif0684 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I have a 2011 Sierra. I've been reading about adding the DIC (Driver Information Centre) to my truck as it is a simple swap of the interior panel that houses the DIC buttons. While organizing some papers tonight I came across the original window sticker from my truck. Listed under "Interior Features" sure enough it says "Driver Information Centre". My truck has a couple options with the press of the tripodometer reset button. Is this what they are refering to, or am I legit missing the actual DIC panel with the buttons that let me see fuel economy and all the programming options for the door locks etc.
mc7719 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I beleive the extra buttons and features in the DIC is referred to as the "Enhanced" or "Deluxe" DIC (or something like that) on the window sticker. I'm 99% certain WTs did NOT come with the enhanced DIC, only the basic version which you have, and is referenced on your window sheet.
ruggedlife Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 i did the same thing when i bought my truck it said what yours say, asked the dealer and they said it was something seperate, no biggie its cheap and easy to install
zif0684 Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 After I posted on here I did some searching (backwards, I know). On the options sheet for the Sierra on GM's website there are 2 seperate items for the DIC... Instrumentation – Driver Information Centre (DIC); comprehensive multi-language system with trip odometer, engine hour meter, transmission temperature, GM Oil Life Monitoring System, tire pressure monitoring system (except 3500HD models) and visual and audible reminders/warnings Instrumentation – four DIC menu buttons located on the instrument panel provide additional vehicle information and permit customization features such as automatic locking/unlocking, seat position recall, exit lighting and remote door lock/unlock The 1st is standard on all models. The 2nd is only listed starting with the SLT
Doug_Scott Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 The W/T with the Nevada option is a SL. My 2010 was listed the same way, and when I bought the truck it was built that way as well. If you used the online tool to build the truck you could not select Power anything when building the W/T. Take a look at your invoice and see if you also have these listed. If they are, you have an SL Power Windows Deep Tinted Glass Colour-Keyed Carpeting w/Front & Rear Vinyl Mats Body Coloured Body Side Mouldings GVWR: 3,084 kgs (6,800 lbs) Outside Heated Power Adjustable Mirrors Electronic Cruise Control w/Set & Resume Speed Convenience Package Chrome Grille Surround Front Chrome Bumper Heavy Duty Handling/Trailering Suspension Package
tanked_darren Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 All trucks come with the DIC. The extra buttons is just an enhanced version like said above, my order sheet says DIC too, but I added the panel
BigBlueLB756 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 You can get the panel with buttons for around $100 or less if you shop around. If you have do-it-yourself skills, the switch itself is available for less than $20 and can be installed in the panel you have if you can cut out a rectangular hole in it. The size is easily seen on the backside of the panel.
Djscorpio2200 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 once you add the panel do you have to reprogram anything want to add this gm parts direct has one for 75 and i know its easy to take off but do i have to reprogram and will there be a harness for it already. I would like a little insight before removing everything and purchasing. I own a 2008 silv. lt and i have already checked my codes for adding the dic it is upgradable. Lmk Thanks guys
Zembonez Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Once you add the panel it works immediately. No programming needed. I did mine when I bought it.
