Oil Changes sometimes suck

I've had one of those days when I dropped the filter or something stupid and made mess. I changed the oil in my 2011 for the first time last month and it was much easier than the 1998 it replaced. That thing had the oil filter up on the side of the engine and oriented to run oil over everything. I eventually was able to fabricate a chute to divert the oil but I have to say I'm glad it is gone.

Now on the Jeep and Challenger oil changes are a snap. The Jeep even has built in chute to drain the oil filter into the pan. :)

LOL....I think we've all had these kinds of days. Sometimes my oil changes are clean and spotless. Other times it's a horrendous mess.

No matter to me if they don't grease the two fittings on my truck, it's all warrantied till 100k. Normally I do my own maintenance but I wasn't gonna turn down a freebie from a shop I trust.

Extended warranty? The PT warranty does not cover suspension components.

You need one of these. Takes the mess away - no more oily hands.

They are great...until road debris flies up and breaks it and you toast your engine. Try getting that warrantied.

Thats why I use the Aeroquip oil drain plug, they don't hand down there, (that lever scares me on the qwikvalve) .. had Aeroquip 12 years on my 1999 sierra, good performing product. just bought one for my 2011..

well they don't hang down where something can do that.. they are not much bigger then your current plug..I had one on my 1999 sierra for 12 years without a hitch.. Have you own this product in the past???

No, but I have heard of this happening with the Fumoto valves. A plug is not nearly as subject to damage as one of these.

I have a fumoto on my 95 powerstroke. I think it is great. It has a detent catch for the lever and after 150,000 miles it has been perfect. No problems at all.

Yeah, I added the GMPP Major Guard which covers pretty much everything for 100k.
