My truck stands corrected

Only a preview for now… dropped my truck off at the shop this morning to install the level + rear blocks + wheels/tires. I have been working on the truck for a couple of months and found great info on this site. Here is a list of my mods, I am really pumped about the level and wheels/tires.

 

2011 GMC Sierra SLE

• BMF 2.25” leveling kit
  
• 2” rear blocks
  
• 20” x 9”, +18mm offset MR301 Method Wheels
  
• 285/55/r20 BF Goodrich T/A KO Tires
  

 

Already on:

• Advent OGM1 nav
  

 

 

Rearview camera from mirror tapped to also display on nav

 

Medialink connected to stock USB port, moved to glovebox

 

Medialink aux jumpered to female to female connection in glovebox

• DL3 mirrors (only turn signals active so far)
  
• Debadged tailgate
  
• Added at the dealer: my favorite grill, stainless sill plates, heated seats, rear underseat organizer, Line-X bedliner over the rails, chrome handles/mirror covers

• HL 6db attenuators to fix XM overdrive issue

So... I realize that measuring pavement to top of the fender is not the most accurate comparison, but my after measurements show a bigger gain than I anticipated. Even though the leveling kit is advertised as 2.25” and the tires are larger, I am up over 3” in the front and there is less rake than planned. My truck looks awesome the way it sits, but I do want to account for the difference and be sure there is not too much stress on the front end.

 

The before measurements were taken with my truck on the stock Z71 265/65/r18 tires at ~35psi (specs read 31.5”). After measurements include the new BFG tires running at 40psi (specs for 285/55/r20 read 32.5”). I did have trouble finding a flat lot for the measurements so I have to account for that variation plus the difference in tire pressures.

 

Below are my after measurements and a pic of the axle angles on the front end. Can anyone give me some feedback on whether this looks ok?

 

After Measurements:

FL – 39 ¾ FR – 39 ¾

BL – 40 ¼ BR – 40

 

 

By the way, the tires clear the fenders by about half an inch at full lock.

Sorry to thread jack but could you explain more about those attenuators for the xm overdrive issue? I have the PAL and it overdrives the iPod and is hooked inline with the xm.

Bob, truck is noticeably slower but does not feel underpowered. I am considering recalibrating but not sure there is enough difference in tire size to spend the money?

 

hodges, I was referring to the post by member hgmech in this thread. I have ordered the attenuators and can let you know if they fix the distortion for my truck.

Looks good...You should invest in some splash guards/mud flaps IMO. Those BFG's throw rocks like no other tire.
