When is the right time of year to buy?

As you can see I had a 99, that I bought used in 2000, I traded in a 86 that I had bought new in fall of 87, before that I had a 77, so I tend to keep them until they are toast more or less, other than the 77 none of them had big problems, and when I traded the 99 in the dealer said that has a lot of miles and I told him I was not afraid to haul anything he wanted to Ca. if he wanted to put the gas in it. :jester:

I say don't just limit your search to the dealers near you, but search everywhere!! I found two trucks one red, one silver $20.00 difference in price. One was 800 miles from me other was 875. Local dealer would not do a dealer trade for them being 2011 models, (they were afraid that they would get it here and then I would not want it). I looked at the difference with taking the rebates or 0% with Ally, it was cheaper by $4200.00 to take the 0% than the rebate. Look around near and far. :jester:

No need to go through your local dealer when purchasing out of state or you local area. I purchased this truck in Ohio I live in VA. It would have taken me 7.5 hours to get there one way. I just had them deliver it to my house. I even traded my 2005 F150 in on it and got 17K for it. Was very happy all the way around with this dealer. They gave me a great price on this truck and a great price on my trade and I only had to pay them $400 to deliver it. All this and I didn't have to waste any time in the dealership!

As Jim said, shop the net but make sure the dealer give you any local discounts to your area.

EX-150 owner, can I ask what dealer you purchased from?

Sure. I purchased it from Classic Madison, 6300 N Ridge Rd, Madison, OH 44057 (440) 428-1141-Sandy Felde sold me the truck and did a great job setting everything up.

I hear it's better early in the year if your buying of the lot. I personally bought my new 09 silverado in january 2010. I saved over 4k in mark down and rebates, along with the loyalty discount.

be sure to modify the preferences so that it shows the options your wanting. use that to determine how much you should pay in your area, and determine if your really getting a good deal or not

I bought my 2011 at the end of October using truecar.com. Ended up getting about $9,000 off MSRP. Actually the truck I got had more options than the one I submitted on truecar.com and they still sold me my truck for the truecar.com price. Plus I got them to include a spray in bed liner for no cost. I'll never buy a new car again unless I go through truecar... it's free too!

I bought my 2011 the day before Thanksgiving 2011, so it'd been on the lot a while. I lucked out(?) in that the dealer I bought from was about to lose their franchise license and I got it for 10k off sticker after rebates/incentives. Wasn't quite the truck I wanted, but close enough, and the $$$ I saved makes up for it.

Have found two 2011's within 200 miles in black both with the 6.2. The price is really good on the one that is the farthest away. My only issue with both of them is that they have the Z71 appearance package & after seeing the '12's, leaning toward the updated fronts in black granite. So thinking am going to wait a bit longer. Incentives & interest rates don't seem like they will be much of a variable in the near future.

some good info here. i got my last one in august, just ordered it because they usually don't have the plain SLE trucks around. everthing is loaded and i'm not paying for all that stuff. i used my dads GM discount, he has since passed on so i'll use my work discount which is alittle over list. i may have to order again, so i'll go in august. it'll give me time to save some more coin. how much should you put down?? as much as you can or less? i'll keep the truck 10-12 years, so theres not much of a trade in left. some people say don't put much down because not much comes off your payment.
