police light bars

One of my friends from school has been looking to get a used police light bar or possibly order a new one if at all possible for his junker car that they run up north.

Does anyone know where I can find one or order one from? If all else fails I'm going to tell him to get an emergency one for tow trucks and just swap out the orange w/ some red and blue.

This isn't going to be used for pulling poeple over or anything like that, for some reason he wants one for his car that he runs on there land up north. I try not to question the reason.

Check out Galls to find the light-bar. They have tons of cool stuff that cops, firefighters, and emergency workers use...expensive though!

Assuming that this is for some legal purpose, http://www.strobesnmore.com/ is a good place to deal with. The Millennium LED bar is sweet but starts at $1k.

Watch out for different state's laws. My state says you need a permit to use (light up) colored lights, but some restrict possession. In NC it's jail time. My hidden strobes are low key (invisible) but a big ol Whelen Edge WILL attract attention.

There's also usually some on ebay. Search on Whelen. Ebay makes you take the colored lenses out, but they're easy enough to buy elsewhere is the seller won't throw them in on the side.

Galls is a good place to start, from there you can get some manufacturer's names(Whelen, Code 3, Federal Signal, etc) and go to their sites to see other distributors or retailers, as others have noted, be sure he has a legal right to have this or you're looking at some problems.

I believe in Wisconsin as it is here in Illinois it is illegal and highly punishable to USE them. If he gets it, then turns them on on a public road and gets caught he may get the Rodney King treatment.

I know people here who have strobe lighting on their F-Bodies that they use for car shows, but cannot use them on the street.

this car will never see public roads. He lives up around Appleton and I believe has a few hundred acres where he runs his junker car. From the way he describes it just driving this car on the road will get him pulled over regardless.
