Figured out the cause of the trailer system warning. We hooked the compressors to the post on the fuse box. Well apparently that is fused by a 30a and a 40a fuses. Those were blown. Put new fuses in and changed the power source for the compressors to the battery terminal. Problem solved! Well one problem.

I ran a dedicated 6 gauge wire with an inline 60A Maxi fuse for mine.

Doing a full brake job on my brother's step-son's '02 Ram 1500. My brother got it for $500 - been a long battle so far to get this thing road ready and MA legal. Bed was unsalvageable - got tossed in the scrap pile. Got the axles out to do a parking brake overhaul. Did axle seals while they were out. Shop is a mess - had to cut and run in the middle of the job Saturday to go to a b-day party.

There are 2 fuses on mine. We just ran the wrong power source is all. We didn't realize that location was fused is all. Now it's run from the battery. There's a 50 amp circuit breaker right off the battery and then there is a fuse box for the compressors in the toolbox. Each compressor has it's own 20amp fuse. So if something blows up it somehow got past double fuses.

Yep - the roads up here turn $50k into a worthless pile of scrap in less than 12 years.

Every technician has to have a BFH, "Big Nasty" (industrial air hammer), and a set of fire wrenches (torches) to get any hard parts off the vehicle.

Today I changed the oil and filter again in my Trax. Monitor said I still had 30% but that would have meant the next oil change would have fallen in January sometime. Nothing I hate more than doing an oil change on a cold day. I should be good until sometime in April...

I also repaired a 2008 G5 FOB ( 22733524 )

My dad gets so pissed about these type of weights being put on a nice set of wheels.

I do too, they always fall off. Something is super messed up with that tire to need that many.

I don't like them either, thankfully my rims on either vehicle don't have the lip on them so they have to use stick-on weights.

3.25 oz isn't that bad for a truck tire.  Some of the cheap chinese tires want over 5 ounces on ONE side sometimes. Big swamp tires can go 10 ounces.

Also, if your weights are falling off, it's because they're either used, or the wrong style for your rim (like using an MC on a rim that requires REG) .. or the shop is buying them straight from the mainland ...

I ran my Cooper ATWs for a hair over 2000 miles before even putting the balancing beads in, so that much seems extreme to me I guess, haha.

The main reason I had the weights falling off was the tire machine nudging them to patch flats back when I had 4 ply tires. Knock on wood, but no flats in over 80,000 miles since switching to 10 ply. I still prefer the stick on weights or balancing beads, though.

Ahh, that'll do it to loosen the weights, for sure.

I remember seeing the beads when I was driving TT - they worked great as a quick fix for front-end-beating shakes. Makes a hell of a mess when it comes time to swap tires if you're not expecting them, though.

I made the mistake of having the beads removed and wheels conventionally balanced to fix a shake. I since discovered it is a worn out CV shaft causing the vibration. My next set of tires, I'll go with beads and stick with them.

A guy brought me a cluster out of a Volvo 10 ton yesterday saying he tried to fix it himself and now nothing works. I said: "I'm sorry I don't do Volvos I don't have the parts"  Then he said "At least have a look at it to see what I screwed up" " I'm in town for a couple hours and I'll come back to pick it up repaired or not later"

Well I opened it up and found his boo-boo, cleaned that up to find that the speedometer stepper motor was bad.  Come to find out they use the same motors as the Ford Mustang 03-05 and I happened to have a few of these that were sent to me by mistake by a seller.

I changed the stepper motor and fired it up.  Everything worked. He couldn't believe it when he came back.  What a happy camper.  He was jumping with joy, I think it was his dad's truck, so I saved him a lot of aggravation and "I told you so".

Asked for $50 and he gave me $100 and drove away.

I've been slowly gathering parts to do a rebuild of my front steering system on the truck, so far I have a MOOG idler arm and an idler arm bracket. Debating on if I want to just go ahead and replace the steering box, and steering shaft while I'm at it. I plan on taking the pitman arm to the local auto parts store to get the correct one whenever I finally tear into this. The tie rods don't need replaced since they are only a couple of years old and maybe have 5k miles on them.
