Exactly right! The same thing happens IN state here too - my parent's town gets all the mush-minds from metro-Boston that buy up all the "cheap" mansions ... then DEMAND they have all the services they had out in Boston. Soon, they had a Taj-Mahal school, police, and fire department, and $5k a year in property taxes. On top of that, every Proposition 2-1/2 override (MA has property taxes capped at a maximum of 2.5% per year ... unless overridden by majority vote) that comes up for a vote, gets passed with flying colors. These people love to just piss their money away to government. It amazes me.

All the elderly who have BUILT that town now live on a fixed income, and are getting the shaft.

My shop is closed today. Too cold and rainy ... and it's Sunday, after all. :)

Check engine light came on the other day, #7 glow plug. Scanned it again tonight just to double check which one it was before going and getting a glow plug and replacing it, #3 glow plug showed up as a pending fault. Buddy and I said screw it and replaced the 4 odd number glow plugs in around an hour. So now with only 54,xxx miles all 8 glow plugs have been replaced.

Then we went and put another tarp on the boat to protect the Bimini cover from the FL sun. Going back tomorrow to pull one of the carburetors off so we know what to look for to replace them. Probably after that going to go to the trailer shop and see what they have for weight distribution set ups, I don't know what the bars I have are rated for plus I want to get a system with sway control built in anyway and handle 13,000 lbs or more. I think with the boat ready to go it's going to be 12-13k with full fuel tanks, fresh water, trailer, and all our gear.

I forgot the name, but there is a website just for that. You post the details of down to a one time job, and freelance designers respond.

I was referred to one in az that does work for the family, but I would also meet with one in person and know the process

Repaired an auto start blue A433 FOB for a guy with a 2004 Avalanche. I had repaired his cluster a few years back. It's a holiday here today but my shop stays open for people who use their trucks everyday, it gives them a chance to come over.

I'm open today myself, I wish the bank and post office were open

I'm retired and supply this service to help people out that can't afford dealer prices. If Sunday or a holiday are the only days their truck is idle then that's when I help them. I accept donations. lol. Doing an 07 Classic HD cluster this afternoon with 674,000 miles ( you know this guy isn't idle a lot ), all the gauges work fine but all the background bulbs are burnt. Going to replace all bulbs with 12 volt LEDs in cool white including cruise and signal in green like this one.

If somebody wants to do this to their truck and are agile with a soldering iron, I have the diagram for voltage polarity on the circuit board since LEDs are polarity dependant. Arrow points to negative.

If you are going to do this I suggest adding an LED to the far left where the transmission temperature gauge would be even if you don't have one. This will fill a dark spot at the bottom left of the Tach gauge. This shows an 03 but they are all the same from 03 to 07 Classic even if the boards are slightly different from year to year.

Geesh, these new ones are getting smaller and smaller solder joints.

I just did a couple stepper motors in a '05 Mustang. That cluster there makes the Mustang one look 100 years old by comparison. Yikes ...

I see you did that one in march, I repair or rebuild about 12 a month, not so much of the Fords though, the odd Mustang and F150s. The F150 use a different motor, solder leads are on the same side as the shaft like Volvo trucks.

Yeah that was in March - seems like I just did it. First one I've ever done. Probably won't see another for years. I do a little of everything here.

Just finished getting this pile running, lol. Anything with an engine I'll work on. This one hasn't run since last fall - carb was all plugged up, thanks to our government mandated moonshine we're forced to run up here. Fished the filter out of the tank that came off the split fuel hose, cleaned the carb, and cleaned up my driveway. :)

Installed a bug deflector on the hood, then after looking at it for an hour pulled it off again to paint it. That smoke piece of plexiglass the whole width of the truck just didn't do it for me on a silver truck. Forgot to take a picture of it on so won't have a before and after picture but I will take one once I'm done painting it. Long process.....

Drove the truck out to the boat, buddy and I spent 6 or 7 hours gutting a lot of the interior. Used the truck to haul the bad stuff to the burn pile. Went back today and pulled some more stuff out of the boat and took more stuff to the burn pile as well as loaded up the bed with good stuff/stuff we might use later and took that home for storage on my back porch.
