Thunk / Thud 2012 2500 6.0 when stopping

I have a thud or thunk sound when coming to complete stop. Happens when coming to a complete stop either in drive or reverse, once completely stopped, 1 sec delay and then the thud noise, only once. Ive check the spare tire, anything that would swing or have sway to it. The only thing I could think of is the fuel in the tank sloshing and causing the thud noise. Anyone else have this problem, found the cause?

Mine will do that very same thing, and everytime I think I can make it do it again it will not happen. I want to make it happen on demand so I can take it to the dealer. Maybe someone else will chime in on this.

This sounds like the typical slip yoke bind. If you stop less aggressively is it still there? or as pronounced?

It still happens when I come to a rolling stop.

How do you stop if your not rolling? Is a stop and rolling stop different?

I have the same thing. I brought it to the dealer last week and mentioned to them the slip yoke tsb from the previous generations. They greased the splines on the driveshaft and have not noticed it yet, maybe slightly still there . Funny I also thought of gas sloshing around in the tank. Was certainly worse on hard stops / starts .

Maybe I should have worded that better. Less of an aggressive sudden stop to more of a softer slower stop.
