psi?

So I just got some Hankook Dynapro Atms put on today 265/70R17 to be exact and I noticed that the max psi was 80. That kinda surprised me because I would run my old tires at 35 psi cold. So my question is, what psi should I run these new tires at and I am going to be towing a trailer to Colorado next week so should my pressure in the rears go higher when I do that? Thanks!

I would typically run them at 35-40 with no load, and bump it up some when towing.

What he said, once my tires I have are worn out I'm switching to LT's and that's my plan is for the psi setting.

Word. I do the same with my load range E tires, which have a max of 80 psi.

Run whatever psi the inside of the door says on the vehicle. The 80 psi on the tire means you can not exceed it. Some people believe that you have to add more air to smaller tires or less air for larger tires but the vehicle weighs a certain amount and the manufacturer put the psi that is needed for that weight on the vehicle. When you change tire sizes you change the volume of air but pounds per square inch is always the same.

I'm running 40 in mine, the have a max of 50. Only put it up to 48ish when pulling the travel trailer in the rear. Anything above 40 makes for a rough ride.
