I want to put one on mine, but I'm worried it will just make the truck run rich since I won't be tuned for it...

Got mine in the mail. Very fast shipping. I put it on this morning. Like others have said the response is way better. Ill have to let it get broken in i guess. It might have added a whine to it a little bit. Or maybe its because I was listening intently with the radio down, I dont know. Seems to have been worth it. Ill update as it gets broken in. SIDE NOTE!!! WATCH THE CLIP WHEN YOU ARE TAKING IT OFF THE OLD ONE!!!!!! IT BREAKS VERY EASILY

I'm confused. I clicked on the ebay link on page 2 and it looks nothing like the throttle body on my truck. Mine looks like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/200696047120?item=200696047120&viewitem=&vxp=mtr

But not this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS3-LS7-L99-90mm-Throttle-Body-Corvette-Camaro-SS-Z06-G8-NEW-GM-12605109-Gold-/190698569801?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c66854049&vxp=mtr

Obviously they bolt on because so many of you have done it, so is my 87mm different than all of yours or am I missing something? If mine is different I might look into that first link. Stay with the 87mm and have it ported...

youre right. the 87mm one you posted first is the one i just took off my truck today. the second link is the 90mm one i just put on

Just a thought, but the major difference between the two is the FBW on the throttle body, and obviously the opening size. With the real life gains of of the new style FBW, that may well be the difference in the throttle response. My truck is wayyyy better with the new style.

thanks Michael. They looked so different on the left side(as you face them) that I though that I was looking at the wrong deal. I'm not sure what to do. I've got a little over five thousand miles on it, and I can void two different warranties with the swap. I may just go for it and keep a copy of the Magnuson-Moss warranty act in my back pocket. Can you guys tell me how obvious the swap is after doing it? It may be hard to hide in here:

Update. Just pulled the trigger on the new TB. Sure hope that FBW tube sticking out the left side clears my coil pack covers, looks like it may be close...

FBW? Please enlighten a noob such as myself. TIA.

Edit: that's nOOb. What/where is this plastic clip spoken of that I should be careful with when making the swap?

See the black plug in Jonathan's picture he posted. Notice the wires and the plug that electronically controls the throttle opening. there is a tiny black clip that hold that on you have to push down to release the plug. IT DOESN'T JUST PULL OFF!! I found out the hard way and broke mine.

Gotcha! Thanks for clearing that up for me; now I know what to look for.

Well Wolfman, I will probably show myself to be the nOOb by giving you the wrong answer, but I believe the acronym FBW refers to Fly By Wire, as our throttles are controled electronically and have no traditional throttle cable. My concern was that the 90mm tb appears to have the electric motor sticking out from the tb while the 87mm tb has it above the tb, the concern being my Callaway coil pack cover on the passenger side being so close to the new design. While it looks different, I understand the new design to be better and more responsive. It certainly looks to be a better design, with everything encased in metal rather than under a plastic cover that is clipped on to the side of the throttle body.

Now for a question for those of you that have done the swap. Is the outside diameter of the 90mm the same as the o.d. of the 87mm or did you have to stretch the fitting slightly? Can't wait for the new tb, it has been shipped and is on the way...

Thank you, SC540; your definition makes sense to me and probably is the correct one. I wish I could answer your question regarding the O.D. of the 90mm t/b. It was due last Thursday, but it seems Chico PO lost it and is still, as of this morning, looking for it. The vendor did everything they promised as far as shipping goes (according to USPS tracking), so this is not a knock against them. I will contact the vendor today to advise them of what's going on and get them involved, if necessary.

Im curious to the OD too since I have the GM Performance CAI I want to make sure it fits the tube.

I have the Air Raid tube on mine. Getting the rubber grommet on the TB was the easiest part. I had one hell of a time getting the tube to get inside the grommet that was connected to the air box. So to answer your question all of your aftermarket tubes should fit on it. Of course if you have the stock tube it will not.
