2012 3500HD Shaking at Highway Speeds

Hey guys same issue here! My new 2500hd bought with 1 mile on the truck has spent 13 out of the 15 days I've owned it in the shop. Wheels and tire have been replaced by GM the vibration is worse now then prior to the fix. Now it might be a new drive shaft. I'm giving the dealer till The middle of the week to have this issue reaolved before I demand a new truck. Any suggestions??

Hopefully this problem is fixed, the dealer seems to feel that it is. I will determine if it is or not. Louis can a dealer just swap out the truck or does GM have to buy the truck back? Sometimes I feel as if I'm getting the run around, possibly because this isnt being fixed as quickly as I would like it to be.

I think your running is just about to start,I have had my truck for 17 months and bitched about the road noise the first week I had it and GM say's there working on it. Ford's are looking so good right now.

Update- GM customer service has set up "another" case # for me. I was told a district specialist would be in touch to resolve my issue. I did get a call from the district specialist today assigned to my case. I believe the call came from "overseas" as the specialist spoke with a very thick accent and sounded to be reading from a cue card. I was not impressed. Anyway, I explained that with 4 previous service events at 3 different dealers to diagnose and repair the shaking issue with no resolve; I was not going to bring it in to another dealer unless a solution. It is a waste of mine and the dealers time to just keep balancing my wheels, thinking that the shaking is going to simply disappear. There are just too many documented cases of this with the 11+ HD HD trucks to just be a wheel issue. I believe it is a driveline issue.

I read an article yesterday about the 13 GM HD models. The article said that one of the changes was to the rear springs and axle to lessen wheel hop and provide a more comfortable ride at highway speeds. Hmmmm, do you think the engineers figured this thing out and are implementing it with the 2013 models, but calling it a tire balancing problem on the 11 + 12's?

At any case, I am not giving in even if we are talking replacement truck.

I will keep posting as it unfolds.

About 50 pages of this problem documented. There is a post in the thread of a class action lawsuit and an attorney representing truck owners with this "known" issue. I'm not too far off from calling this guy.

Here is the attorney I have on my truck atm. He works in many states. Im also talking with a couple different attorneys at this time for a class action against GM. They are clearly covering/masking this issue. We have all been givin case numbers and they have admitted to knowing there is a know issue.

Did not read the whole thread, and took a quick look at the link above to another site, and it brought back memories of 78 and up Chrysler products. Back then I was the transmission guy at a Plymouth/Chrysler dealership. Chrysler introduced the lock-up torque converter in 78. The first year of so had very bad vibration just after the converter locked up. The vibration was so bad the dash would vibrate up and down about an inch or two. You could not push the dash that far by hand, but, the vibration would move it that far. Ended up changing a spring and the end plate for the lockup valve in the valve body to fix it. That worked in most, some still required a washer behind the spring to delay the application even more. Reason I bring this up is that maybe this is something that is happening with the HD trucks. Is there anyway to stop the converter from locking up on the allison transmission? Do the trucks still vibrate if you manually shift the truck into a lower gear while it is vibrating? Again, I did not read the entire thread, this just brought back memories that may be applicable here.

I don't think this is a transmission issue, as the shaking problem exists with both gassers and Duramax. The diesels have the Alison and the gassers don't.

I think was just riding home today and the shaking was real bad.

One thing I can say is that some days it is worse than others. I can ride on the same road, same lane, same speed, same outside temp, same load, etc and one day it will barely shake then the next day it shakes like crazy. I don't get it.

For those that are considering the lemon law, it works and doesn't cost a dime. As long as you have the same issue 3x and it goes in for it and is documented. You can search my user name for my particular issue and/or send me an IM if you need any info. I had no luck with GM customer service, they kept offering me free oil changes, LOL.

So where in that article do they say anything about any changes that will resolve the issue being talked about here? This is the ONLY snippet that I find about ANY changes for 2013.

Sense the chassis set redesign of the HD's in 2011, they all use asymmetrical rear leaf springs.
